Subway or.Quinzos sounds like a great idea. Target would be another popular one. Another option would be to bake cookies or another yummy snack.
I would like to have my son give a gift of some sort to his coach at the end of this swim season. My son is shy, I'm shy, and I don't really know many of the other parents, so I don't feel comfortable asking around. However, his coach is an amazingly talented young (early 20's?) man that I feel should be thanked for his patience and hard work. I know practically nothing about him. I don't think he drinks alcohol or coffee - heck, I don't even know if he's 'of age' to drink. We will likely give a Thank you card with a nice written message of thanks, but I'd like to add in either a gift certificate (where to?) or a nice gift of some sort.
Any ideas? I know it's not much to go on, but think older teen or young adult single male (never seen a girlfriend either). I don't know that he swims much anymore. I've never seen him in the pool - only coaching the kids at the pool. He's extremely busy too - I believe he's in school during the day and teaches swim in the afternoons/evenings.
Thanks everyone. My son's eyes lit up when I suggested he draw a picture for his coach, so we'll definitely do that. Probably a Sports Authority gift card and a Thank you card with a nive note. The guy could certainly use food too, so maybe we'll bring a snack or something.

A gift card to a movie theater is easy and always appreciated. Or maybe a local restaurant.
Swim parents are always nice, some may know of his preferences or they may be doing a group gift as well.
We love our son's swim coach too! He makes learning to swim fun and safe. He's a freshman at a local college, so we did a thank you note with a picture my son drew and a gift card to Target. No matter what his interests are... he'll find something at Target!
Hi! My son is a swim coach so I waited to answer until he came home. "Food", he said. I asked him if he meant a gift certificate and he said, "no, real food". And he went off in search of food. He left here having only had breakfast and just came home (8:45) and fast food has long ago lost its appeal for him, not that he was ever a big fan, but it's tough on the stomach, wallet, and the time it takes to get out and get something. As a mom I can tell you that a note or drawing will be a treasured gift, he hangs them on his wall, he even carries a piece of coral one of his little ones gave him. My husband teaches archery at the Y and even at 56 he still gets tickled by the personal gifts his kids occasionally give him. Just letting your coach know you care will mean more than anything.
Restaurant gift cards are the best! To pretty much anywhere in your area. Fast food even works too. People always have to eat right?
I'm sure he would be thrilled with a heart felt Thank You note. If you want to do a gift card, a Visa card is a good idea or Target if you have those in your area. If he is a student any extra funds would be greatly appreciated I'm sure!!

I agree with Rhonda...Visa gift card....or sports authority or Dicks sporting goods.....
I have a 17 year old, and man can that kid eat. Any type of restaurant gift card (Subway? Look for a restaurant near the pool so you know it won't be out of his way to use the gift card), or an iTunes gift card.
My son helped with the plunger kids on our neighborhood swim team last summer and the team gave him a Target gift card as a thank you. He really appreciated it. I do agree with e other comments who suggested food for food related gift cards. Boys/young men certainly can put it away!!!
I second the suggestion for fast food gift cards. Amazon or iTunes gift cards are also a nice gift for young people.
Visa gift card ($25). He can do what he pleases with it.
