Swh-don't Know If I Can Keep Up!

Between graduations, sports, awards ceremonies, band concerts, and other school activities we have something going every night and weekend for at least the next four weeks. I don't over schedule my kids, but right now the school year is wrapping up and with one graduating high school and the other 8th grade, there are school events constantly. I also work full time. I am looking at the calendar thinking I don't know if I can keep up with all of this. I'm already tired and there just isn't any opportunity to catch a break. I have tried to cut out anything we don't really need to attend, and I am still left with this crazy schedule.
How do you all make it through the super busy times when there is no time to rest? Is there something special you eat or a certain vitamin that gives you extra pep? (I don't drink caffeine anymore for health reasons but it never seemed to make a difference to me anyway!)
I am overwhelmed and I don't know how I am going to manage everything.
What gets you through when you are exhausted?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies. I appreciate all of your advice! I had to giggle because as I was reading one of the messages it hit me that I forgot to put my Mom's retirement dinner on the calendar! Yikes! (It's next week so I didn't miss it!)
Someone asked about 8th grade graduation. I have learned much about this recently! We aren't calling it a graduation, but more of a celebration. That said, there is a reception, dance, and party! So much to do! I did find out that 8th grade graduations used to be celebrated because back in the day a lot of folks didn't make it to high school, so the 8th grade graduation was sort of a big deal.
Well, I am off to the senior band concert and hoping I can keep my emotions in check. I am so proud of my kids, and also so sad that they are growing up too fast!
Thanks to you all!

Good luck to you, and congratulations also! I teach seniors, and it IS an incredibly busy time. I'm swamped as a teacher; I know it must be overwhelming as a parent. I'll find out for myself before too terribly long. Just keep organized, and enjoy the ride! It will be over before you know it. Hang in there! :)

Make sure you have everything on your calendar. If it's NOT on my calendar--it doesn't happen! :P
Just take O. event/commitment at a time.
And take full advantage of what time you DO have for sleep/rest. And eat properly.
That's really all you can do.
Good luck!

B12. Not kidding. That and vit D. You will feel much better.I always can tell when I have forgotten to take it. I am so tired and overwhelmed. I also have to write down everything during crazy weeks. They always seem to just happen all at once. I will make a list the night before of everything scheduled for the following day. I will set my alarm for each event. So, an hour before the event, it goes off and I feel a bit more in control of the craziness. I tend to be forgetful when I am stressed out. This helps me dodge fees for miss appts and what not(i have miss my fair share due to over scheduling!).

Good luck. Drink lots of water. That will help you stay moving too. and it ensures you will have to sit down for a minute to pee every once and awhile!!

When my son was 2 I went back to school full time (12-18hrs a semester). This is what I did to survive:

Get up early...earlier than everyone else...and get some things done in peace and quiet.

Go to bed early (but not before you plan out the next day).

Get take out & eat off paper goods. No cooking and no clean up!

Squeeze in excercise. Walk around the block. Every hour do something for 5 minutes - 1 min each of squats, push ups, sit ups, run up and down the stairs, or just touch your toes.

Drink plenty of water.

Stay away from sugar.

You can do it! Only 1 month left of school - yippeee!

You just have to say 'no' to somethings/events.
If possible.

And knowing, that it is temporary.
Due to the time of year.

And you/Hubby have to either split up the events you attend, because only 'you' can't be expected to shoulder it all yourself.

Divide and conquer! I ask DH to pitch in and drive the kids to various events (birthday parties, sports practices, etc). Or, see if your kids can go to the event with another family, and then you can do a favor for the other family down the road when things have calmed down. You can't do it all - enlist help!!

OMG I have to say I was thinking how very tired I am also. Between working a full time job and kids I'm always tired. It seems to be something that is going around lately. I'm glad its the end of the year. I think I'm more ready for summer vacation than my child. I'l only have to worry about my work not my daughters school work or extras

set up a "reward program" for yourself & your family.

Family conference, address the calendar, delegate. (& when I say delegate, I mean ALL responsibilities.....groceries, cleaning, carpool, + the activities. Everybody gets a "to do list".)

At the end of each week, designate a "down-time" for the entire family. It can be a picnic at the park.....a movie night....anything to reward yourselves for achieving another week of Crazy Life!

I know this sounds dorky.....but it truly works! & that reward time really helps!
