Hi Mommies! We are in the market for a new car and have looked at the Nissan Armada and the Chevy Tahoe. Since this will be the last new car for awhile we are taking our time really looking since there are so many good deals available. I was hoping to get your opinion on either of these two SUVs...gas...comfort...hard to park...and packages on the vehicle and which delarship did you like/dislike?

We have test drove at Power Nissan and Thorobred Chevrolet.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the advice. My husband an I actually ended up purchasing a 2009 Honda Pilot. We love the car and all that it has to offer for the price. We recommend SanTan Honda to anyone looking to purchase a new Honda!

Hi J., I don't have experience with either of the vehicles so no advice there but I do have some on purchasing from a dealer. When we were shopping for our last car we were given some great hints that really paid off! Go on the last day of the month and be prepared to be there for a while, they will practically bend over backwards to get that sale on their monthly report! My husband went to the dealer about an hour before closing and he didn't leave until 11pm that night. He was unwilling to accept any of their offers, keep strong and if they are not willing to lower to an acceptable pricing agreement be willing to walk away and go to the next dealer. And if you are financing the vehicle they are also willing to drop interest rates. We also got the 100,000/10yr warrnety from Toyota for free to keep us there along with saving thousands on the price of the truck! But like I said be prepared to spend 5-6 hours there (torture I know, but it's like "making" at least $1000 per hour!).
I hope this will help you at with the purchase whichever SUV you end up choosing and I hope you can get yourself an awesome deal!! Good Luck!

We have a 2005 Honda Pilot that we like a lot. It also has the split 3rd row seat for taking extra people. This was a site we used to rate different vehicles for something that would help us in the long run with gas etc. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/Feg/findacar.htm
Also, I find http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/ is really worth it...or you can buy their car issue on the magazine shelf. We had a Nissan xterra for a while and I don't think i would buy a Nissan again. It was in for so many little warranty things... and the inside stuff just didn't hold together well. Good luck.

Hi J.. My husband and I bought a Tahoe in 2007 from Freeway Chevy. I really like the car, but I highly suggest you stay away from that dealer. I will never buy another car from them again. In fact, i won't even bring my car there for service. I take it to Thorobred and have been impressed with their service department. The Tahoe is very comfortable. We got the captain seats in the second row which makes it easier for people to climb into and out of the 3rd row of seats. The gas mileage isn't terrible, I get about 16 mpg and I only do around the town driving. The one thing I dislike about the car is how heavy the 3rd row seats are. It's not easy to take them in and out and I wish they folded flat so I didn't have to take them out when I want more cargo room. If the seats folded flat, I wouldn't have any complaints about my vehicle. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Good Luck!

J., I drove a GMC Yukon - the same thing as a Tahoe for 6 years and got a Nissan Armada 8 mos ago. I love it. The big thing for me was to be able to control the rear a/c from the front. With the new design the Tahoe has the controls behind the center console - harder to reach. I have a daughter that is 8 and a son who is 6 and they want the a/c or heater different than we do and I am constantly changing it. I love my Armada, a little smaller, zippyer and fun!

Hi J.
We had an Armada and loved it. We upgraded to the Infiniti because we wanted to have captain seats instead of a bench. I would suggest going to ABC Nissan instead of power you will get a better deal and they have more inventory. If finances allow i would get the rear camera. It really does help to see behind you. Also, if you can wait it is better to buy in the last 4 months of the year. They really want to get rid of the 2009 to make room for 2010 models. The choices can be more limited but worth the savings.
Happy Shopping!
