I had sushi last night at a popular sushi restraunt, so i'm not concerned about the quality or it containing MSG. I had the phyilly roll with raw salmon and a california tempura roll cooked crab.
I'm breastfeeding my 4 month old and he seems more fussy than usual and didnt want to nurse this morning. Also he has been pooping a lot! Its explosive and comming out of his diaper eachtime. He seems really gassy too. Poor thing. He has pooed 4 times now witing the last hour. Im starting to get concerned. Is this normal?
Also i seem to get migraines after i eat sushi. It happens i'd say 2 out of 3 times that i eat it. Has anyone else experienced this? I know MSG can cause migraines but sushi places always asure me that their isnt nay in it.
I also have had 6 ibprofens today. 200mg each. Which i looked up and it said it was fine to take. I still have a migraine and feel like puking and not doing anything at all. : (
TIA

What can I do next?

Maybe seafood doesn't agree with his tummy. Fish also can have high levels of heavy metals, depending on where they were caught or farmed from. Maybe you should lay off the seafood - especially the uncooked kind since it seems to be less then beneficial to EITHER of your healths.

It sounds like it may be the soy sauce. All of my children could not handle soy in any form (neither can I). Good luck and hope your little one feels better soon.

Did you ask if the soy sauce had MSG? Some brands do. It may not be the sushi itself but the soy sauce.
You're baby could be reacting to all the ibuprofen you've taken. I can't take ibuprofen at all because it gives me migraines or makes mine worse. The one and only time I gave one of my children some when he was a baby for either a fever or teething pain, I don't remember which, he got a sick tummy until it worked itself out of his system and he cried inconsolably until it wore off (something like 4 or 6 hours! the typical length it works for a person). He nor my other chidren that came after him have gotten any since that day.
I do hope you and your little one feel better soon!

the same thing happened to me and little girl. I also think it is the soy sauce. I kept eating it more and she ended up getting use to it. I think it's just a first reaction because I didn't eat it like all the time. anyways. hope this helps :) :)

They do not put MSG in sushi.

However, was the salmon.... raw... or smoked? Smoked salmon, looks raw.. but is like the salmon that would be for loxs and bagels. And is a cured salmon. Usually cold smoked and with a brine.
Or maybe the mayonnaise in the California roll? is causing a problem?

Or maybe he is just gassy... ? have you tried Mylicon Infant Gas drops?
Discomfort/gassiness, makes it hard for a baby to nurse.
Do you burp him?

But, traditionally, no. Sushi does not have MSG added to it.

The rice, is often seasoned... with rice vinegar in some places. And sometimes seasoned with "Mirin", which is a sweet sake.

Or maybe, the sushi was spoiled?
But you said you are not concerned about the quality of sushi at the restaurant you went to.

Or maybe it is the rice? Some people are allergic to rice.
Or maybe the Nori? The seaweed you are reacting to.

The seafood, could be affecting your baby.
Babies, should not have seafood, until after 1 year old, I think. Some say after 6 months.
Try looking it up online... about seafood and breastfeeding.
