Surgery with a Cold?

My 2 year old is scheduled to have surgery on Friday (routine, day). But of course now he seems to be coming down with a cold. Runny nose, slight cough, etc. I plan to call the nurse when the office opens, but will they still do the surgery? or should I reschedule? I guess my concern is that there is no way to predict when he will be sick and I would prefer to get it over with. But I also dont want to put him at risk in anyway.
Thanks

What can I do next?

M., they will advise you. Talk to the surgical staff nurse assigned to your daughter. I think that they will want to reschedule, but the answer needs to come from them.

Sorry about your daughter needing surgery. Hope all goes well!

My guess is that they will reschedule. They'll want him as healthy as possible so that it limits what infections pop up later.

I had to postpone my surgery when I was sick.

Hope he feels better soon!

99.9% sure you will have to reschedule. I would not let my child go in sick.

Definitely let the doctor know what's going on. They will decide what's best to do.

I went in for a scheduled surgical procedure, checked in, the whole thing. They got me in my room and discovered that I had a fever. I hadn't even been aware of it. The doctor came in to see me and postponed the procedure. She had them give me a blood test and then put me on a course of antibiotics before we could move ahead.

Your son could be fine by Friday, but check in and let the doctor know what's going on so you don't end up like me....at the hospital and then sent home. It's best to let them know now and avoid that for your little one.

Best wishes.
