Kate, I am glad that you reminded me--I will pray for you. I will also pray for the surgeons and all of the staff that will be working for a successful outcome. In addition to praying, I suggest imagining yourself resting quietly in bed AFTER the surgery has been completed and all went well. Imagine the grateful feeling you will experience when it is completed. This will be behind you soon. Pray, trust, and maybe--rent a funny movie for tonight to get your mind off of it, then pray, trust, and allow the competent and capable staff to take care of you. Keep reminding yourself that yours is a very routine procedure and that these are done over and over again with the same successful result that you will experience. You must endeavor to keep these positive thoughts in your mind and TRUST. You will be great! I look forward to you sharing in 'so what happened'. K.

Kate,

I will be thinking about you. I will pray for your health and safety during your surgery. You will be just fine~ Try to relax, take a bath tonight to ease your mind and trust that everything will be ok tomorrow.

Good luck!

Thinking good thoughts your way. Have faith: your surgery team honestly has your best result as their top priority. They have performed this surgery *so many times*. It's scary for the individual undergoing the surgery but the surgical team has this procedure down pat.

You are in good hands and the surgery will go well. Be good to yourself in recovery and do all the self-care your doctor recommends.

I'm sending up prayers for you and look forward to your "So What Happened" in a few weeks! Good luck and no worries! :)

Kate, I had lap surgery several years ago and you will be fine. I had no pain, just a bit groggy when I got home the same day. The worrying about it is worse than the actual event. Don't worry - just try to relax (I know that's easier said than done) - focus on when you will be back home, and that helps.

Having never been through a surgery I can't honestly know what you are feeling but I will tell you that I've been through a few with my mom and knowing that other people are praying for you is very helpful. Stay positive and strong and rest during your recover. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

If you've done your homework and gotten yourself a good surgeon, you'll do great! I had RnY in late June and have never felt better! You'll be soooo glad you did this for yourself!

When you check in with the nurse, be sure to mention that
you are feeling anxious. Ask if you can get a mild sedative - something to make you relax before your surgery.
Usually, they can get you something.
Think positive thoughts.
Take care.

Hi Kate - All will be well for you! Try to meditate or do deep breathing or pray to keep yourself calm. Better to go into surgery relaxed. I met a woman in December who had had the surgery in late October and she was doing GREAT! She said for the first time in her life she understood what it meant to feel "full" and that the band helped her to lose 15 lbs already. She looked great and we actually had a pizza delivered and she was full from her protein shake so she did not eat any! You will be fine and lower your risk for other serious diseases by having this procedure. I will be praying for you and sending you good thoughts! V. G.

I am in clinical research and at one of my past companies (women's health surgical devices) I sat in on several laparoscopic surgeries as well as laparotomies. I personally never saw a bad result. Not sure what you are personally going in for, but the best thing you can do is try to think positive and get rest (and remember this is what your doctor does ALL THE TIME- so he's probably gotten pretty darn good at it :)). Scar tissue is probably the most common risk and, in the grand scheme of things, thats not too bad, and can be mitigated (although can be annoying and involve some pain). Figured a honest post would put you more at ease. :) Good luck!!!!

Hi Kate! I responded to you about your endometrioma back in August I believe. I had the same procedure twice. I know it is difficult because you are nervous, but try and get a good night sleep. Try and eat a little something no matter what time it is right before you are supposed to fast before surgery. I can't remember how many hours you have to wait, but I had surgery in the afternoon and the nurse told me to eat a little something in the middle of the night. You might be able to have a little water in the morning too. Find this out. Just know that you are doing the right thing for you. This will maintain your health and put you back onto the road of trying to conceive. It is a quick surgery and a quick recovery. Good luck!
