What is a good, safe cleaner to disinfect surfaces? I've heard of using Hydrogen Peroxide. Does that really work - is it really safe for babies? What else do you use?

What can I do next?

I use Seventh Generation products - I've used them even before I had my little one. Great products! Smith's Marketplace sells the products at a reasonable price.

for a spray, mix 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. its a natural disinfectant and can't hurt the baby at all (she could even drink it)
to replace ajax/comet like cleaners - use baking soda. I use a large salt shaker to shake it on surfaces and then wipe w/ a wet cloth. it works great on soap scum and dirt. its also a natural deoderizer.

Hey M.,

My name is D.. I am a mommy to a 15month old boy and one due in November! I totally understand where you are coming from... when Tristin was born I wanted to make sure everything was safe for him. I use a line called Snap... It is bio-degradable, non-toxic cleaning products that your kid could swallow and you wouldnt have to worry :) LOL The great thing is they actually clean surfaces better than anything I have ever used and it doesnt have that awful "killing your brain cells" smell. You can get it off this website www.marketamerica.com/gopro. It is very reasonable... I think the bottle cost about $8 and it fills up a spray bottle 37 times :) very cost efficient. Let me know if you want more info.. My email is ____@____.com and my # is ###-###-#### feel free to call me

God bless,
D.

I use Sol-U-Guard from Melaleuca. It kills 99.9% of germs and is completely safe to use around kids and pets... even on toys and things that may end up in their mouths after you disinfect them! It doesn't contain any bleach or toxic ingredients, and smells great. Message me if you would be interested in learning how to get it for free!

The best product that I have found is Clorox Anywhere Spray. It is in a light blue spray bottle and should be sold and virtually any store. It can be sprayed on hard and soft surfaces, and is even safe around food. I honestly believe this is the BEST product in the world. I use it on everything, especially around cold season and I find that my kids get better much faster when I use it on toys, doorknobs, etc. because they are not continually being exposed to the same sick germs over and over, which keeps kids sick longer. Try it, and I think you'll love it!

Hi M.,
Here's a NATURAL disinfectant that is safe.
8 drops of TEA TREE oil with 2 1/2 cups of water in a spray bottle, shake well. Spray and wipe down. This recipe was designed for oils from ForeverGreen, not all oils are the same. Store bought oils contail fillers. http://www.###-###-####.myforevergreen.org/ and they can be found under the TRUessence section.
Congratualtions and I hope that helps.

Sol-U-Guard is great and toxin-free. It is an EPA approved disinfectant, without the harsh chemicals such as chlorine bleach and ammonia. It uses the natural ingredients of thyme and citric acid to disinfect naturally. It is available online, so let me know if you'd like more information.

Congratualations on the upcoming birth of your daughter! You're so close!

I use vinegar or a vinegar/water solution. That way children who have bleach allergies are not affected.

I use a 50/50 white vinegar and water mixture combined with a tiny bit of baking soda and a few drops of grapefruit seed extract (stuff that kills bacteria, viruses, fungus, etc.). 1 C water + 1 C vinegar + 1 tablespoon baking soda + 20 drops of GSE make a great cleaner. If you don't need the disinfecting part, eliminate the GSE. It's cheap, however, and easy to get. A bottle (8 ounces I think) at Natural Grocers is about $8. This will make MANY bottles of cleaner. I even use this cleaner to wash my fruits and veggies before eating them. GSE is safe--it's usually in the women's care aisle because most people add it to drinks to help with colds, general infections, and especially, yeast infections.

I agree with the two who said Sol-U-Guard.

It is thyme, and lemons, and tea tree oil.

I order it online from a store here in Idaho.

Enjoy your little one hopefully in the next month. It is not fun to go over.
