Hello,

Since your daughter is already sexually active, you should consider sitting her down and have a conversation with her about protectecting herself. Give her the address, phone numbers of a local teen clinic or outreach program, and offer to escort her. You can further humanize the talk by communicating some of your personal experiences as a teen. Good and bad. Please keep the lines of communication open at all times. Let her know that you love her no matter what. I hope this helps.

Try calling Family Paths, a parenting hotline based in Oakland, for a referral. They are really great and have an amazing database for services in the Bay Area. It is a 24 hour hotline: 1-800-829-3777.

Wishing you and your daughter the strength you will need to heal from this trauma.

L.

There was just an article in the Oakland/Berkeley/Alameda County Globe (www.globenewspapers.com, Vol.5, Issue 7) in last week's edition that spoke about support and resources for sexually exploited children and minors.

You can contact MISSSEY (Motivating Inspiring Supporting Serving Sexually Exploited Youth) and its co-founder, Nola Brantley. www.misssey.org If you do a google search on them, you will find other resources for your daughter.

There were a couple more resources mentioned in the article but no phone numbers. It would be best to contact the author of the article Zandra Washington at ###-###-#### or email her at ____@____.com

Good luck! You are doing a wonderful thing for your daughter.

If you mean that she is a sex worker, you might get some help at MISSSEY - ###-###-####. If you mean that she has been molested or raped, please start by calling the police. Good luck and take care.
