My sister has been trying for years. She and her husband are very private and though I'm the only person she talks to, she says very little. They have tried artificial insem and are considering invetro, $$, or adoption, and over 40. She is so sad and really looking to talk w/people who have been through the same situations and struggles. Does anyone know of any support group or online support? thanks

What can I do next?

I was in your sister's shoes until this past August. There is an online group called www.sharedjourney.com. Also, there are face-to-face support groups, but I don't know the name. You'd have to google infertility support groups in Carpentersville. I know there's a big organization that holds the groups all over the U.S., I just can't think of the name now. Also, I don't know your sister's circumstances, but there is a great Dr. in Naperville that helped us get pg. His name is Dr. Morris and he has a website, www.ivf1.com. Good luck!

The national group is www.resolve.org. The hold seminars along with an online support. I had 9 IVF's total and have 4 kids out of those. Resolve was a great tool in finding the right doctor for our situation. It's tough to go through but helps so much knowing others challenges and what has helped them. You think it's an easy thing but our reproductive system is so complicated and doctors all seem to have different approaches. Best of luck to them.

Since she has done artifical insem I am assuming that she is going to a fertility specialist. Maybe they have a support group. My facility had a therapist that you could talk with.

My wife and I have also been trying to have a child for 5+ years now. She is also a very private person and suffers every day of sadness (depression) due to lack of our success. I have a child from another marriage, so my wife feels very alone.

I don't know how to get these people together, your sister, my wife, and people such as them, so they might talk out some of the frustrations. There must be a group somewhere. Good luck with your search. wish I could be of greater help for sure! P.

Resolve is an organization, including an online community she can look into - this may be a good place to start without talking face-to-face if that's desirable to her. I send my blessings to her.

S.,

I'm not sure what your sister's health situation is, but I belong to an online community called SoulCysters that have proven to be an immeassurable source of comfort, support and hope. We all have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome which is the leading cause of infertility. If she's got the same situation, she can join us at Soulcysters.net to chat.

Hugs!

There is a website www.tloljournals.com, it has few journals related to infertility. The ladies on there seem to be very supportive of each other.
