I prefer Target in all ways to a Walmart around here, and for the grocery stuff, I LOVE the Archer Farms (Targets brand) stuff. They have alot of interesting flavors (like pasta sauces and tortilla chips & salsa and some of their organic packaged things). I have never been disapointed with anything of their brand name foods I have purchased, with both quality and flavor.
Recently,, here in the Twin Cities metro area, a magazine (can't recall what one, but a business sort of one) did some reports on local TV channel 11 about best bargains..and Target for groceries was the best bargain over Walmart, Cub/Rainbow and Sams Club/Costco (those were grouped together like I did them)..not by a high margin, but enough to be #1.
My only problem is the variety and not carrying certain brands I do like...but for example this weekend..I did my normal bulk shopping at Sams Club (which was #2 on this listing...IF you shop regularly and use the bulk items...I do since I do home childcare, but am still careful what I buy that nothing goes to waste), but after Sam's...I went to Target to get a few Target brand items I needed (bottle liners for infants in care, and some medicines I buy Targets generic brand of)...and in the end, bought all the rest of my groceries there as well..and its not even a full Market store! Saved me the stop at Cub. All of these stores...and multiple locations of them all.. are within 10-15 miles of my home...very metro/suburban area and not lacking in stores to shop at.
So for me..Target , hands down, every time!
