My well meaning hubby was trying to fix one of my son's nano bugs. He succeeded in fixing the bug, however, he also managed to get many little cement blobs of superglue all over my countertop. How in the world can I get this off? Any help would be greatly appreciated! =0)

What can I do next?

Go to Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart and get a product called Goof Off. It might take serveral tries, but it works pretty well.

Hi Mel---You do want to be very careful of what you do depending on what your countertop is made of. What I might do, after letting the glue cure for a while..as it tends to get brittle with time, is take a plastic pancake turner or trowel and gently scrape it off, the type you would use with a teflon pan. I think most of the little blobs would just pop off with little effort. A table knife might also do the trick but you'd have to be much more careful to not scratch the surface.

I used to have gel nails for some time and used nail glue for repairs...much the same as susper glue. So I've had experience with the mechanical removal of 'spills' with the method I've described. Shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 days of letting it be, then try the scraping method. Hope this helps. Good luck. D.

You can try using nail polish remover. Acetone type works best but depending on your counter material, you might want to contact a manufacturer of the material.

I have used acetone (usually found in most nail polish removers) to loosen super glue. If you chose to use it, I would test in an inconspicuous spot to make sure it didn't damage the countertop.

You may be able to scape it off with a straight razor...

There is a 'Super Glue remover' product that I bought once. Don't remember if it worked or not tho. LOL

I'd try holding ice on a blob for a minute or so, THEN trying to flake it off. An online source at this 'search' http://us.yhs.search.yahoo.com/avg/search?fr=yhs-avg&... said 'Acetone' (which most nail polish remover is made of, and I don't think it would harm your countertop if it's made of Formica. Try it on the most inconspicuous and/or smallest spot, first, tho; and use a cotton swab to control the amount [of remover] and area of application).

P.S. OH! And tell hubby to always put down a newspaper or some kind of 'drop-cloth' when he works with drippy, potentially messy products! ; )

A single-sided razor blade will clean it off without scratching the counter. Acetone may affect the counter surface. I know it'll eat through a wood finish.

Goo gone won't work. That gets sticky adhesives off because it's basically an oil. So it's great for lipstick and gum and the goo left after you take off a sticker.

I second Diane's advice. Let it dry out some more and try scraping it off with something plastic. If that doesn't work, I'd try a single-edge razor blade, hold it almost flat against your counter, and try to pop off the glue that way.

Good luck!

try goo gone.. it works really good... or a little nail polish rmeover.. but watch how much you put it on... it may hurt your counter.. so try goo gone first... can buy it at a hardware store.. or home depot..

She's right. Acetone is the answer, and it's probably in your nail polish remover. Read the superglue tube; it will tell you.
