My DH wears tinted safety glasses, which are not as clumsy looking as the wraparounds. You can get them online or at a hardware store.
Good Morning Moms, My son plays baseball, so several nights a week we will be at the ball park for several hours. My problem is that my eyes have become VERY sensitive to the dust that is always in the air. Even when the wind isn't blowing I still can feel the grit in my eyes and they begin to water and turn red and hurt...... My idea is get a pair of sunglasses that the 80 year old grandmas wear that wrap almost completely around the front and sides of your face. Does anyone have any other ideas? I seem to be very sensitive to the light as well.
I honestly had a dream last night that I was wearing a bee keeper's hat to a ball game!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
M.

I noticed on your profile that you are 46. (or were) that said.. I am now 49 and when I entered my 40s, my eyes started to become extra sensitive and more dry. Finally, I read why that is.... With the lowering of Estrogen, this can cause us to become more Progesterone dominant..
Progesterone being the warming hormone (as you might recall when we ovulate and in the event we become pregnant) Progesterone rises so that our uterus can sustain a pregnancy.. OR ever notice that after ovulation and the closer you get to your period, your body temperature rises and even your perspiration might smell stronger, again this is because of the Progesterone..
which leads me to......... it also dries out sinuses and eyes.. which is often why a woman (like myself) who never had allergies when younger now finds herself with itch dry eyes...
That which is helpful is when I stay VERY hydrated... and yes, sunglasses do help ... Additionally, I do carry re-wetting drops which also helps.. Not sure if you were contact lenses, but I do limit my use of those as well...
good luck
I like my Oakley wrap arounds. While they are not cheap, if you take care of them, they last several years, I'm on my second pair in 10 years...only bc my child was playing with the first and snapped the stem. I think I bought them at the Sun Glass Hut at the mall.
I also suggest Sunglass Hut.
I don't have wraparounds but I do have some RayBans that are polarized and I love them. I've had them about 3 yrs.
Like Chris said, pricey.... but worth it and just take care of them.
I have just a regular pair of sunglasses that I found at Gordman's that have really wide earpieces (the sticks). :) I got them because I commute and the sun is right in the side of my face on the way home, but these completely block it. They're a little more fashionable than the cataract glasses, but do the job. I think something like that could work for you. Just check around the sunglass sections at the department store first. Also I agree with the others, get your eyes checked and it might be time for some artificial tears or something. I'm thinking the bee keeper's hat might be a little embarrassing for your son. :D
Have you had your eyes checked by a dr? Mine are bad right now, but it is the allergens in the air.
You can try clear googgles, like saftey ones .. might be easier to see at night.
Good Luck.
Hi M.,
I originally misunderstood your post and thought you were interested in getting your son the sunglasses... :)
Anyway, I will say that my mom loved her wrap-arounds that she used after her cataract surgery. Call your eye doctor's office, tell them what you are interested in, and they'll know just how to fix you up!
Smiles!
I would get some regular wrap arounds and then wear a sun hat.
