After yesterday's soccer games I have found myself in the same boat. I agree Aloe is wonderful, however I accompany that with vinegar. It takes the sting out. Any vinegar will do. The apple vinegar won't make you stink as bad. :)

I know better- but the weather was cool and windy & I planned to be outside for 30 minutes. It was probably 2 hours. Have a bright red nose (no pain) and my forehead is burned. Nothing has bubbled or blistered yet. I have fair skin, blue eyes & blond hair. Wondering what other moms recommend. Thanks!
Wow! I got so many great responses!! As of 3 days later, my red face is still red but hurting less. I have used the Aloe gel with lidocaine with good results. Tried the hot shower to my burned ankles and it worked, hurt for the time under the hot water, but the pain went away. Strange! Also got some protection for the future- clear zinc oxide for nose, face, ears... as I don't want to reburn the face again. The gals I've seen for facials have always encouraged sunscreen as part of the morning makeup routine and that would have helped me but I've been rushing in the am. Time to get back into that routine! Thanks again!

Aloe Vera is really one of best things for sunburn. It keeps you cool and it'll protect your skin.
The best thing is to keep it moisturized, but aloe vera does seem to cool it down a little. Someone earlier said to stay away from moisturizers with mineral oil, and she's absolutely right. Through Arbonne, we sell a lot of great moisturizers and a really good "before the sun" line to help prevent sunburn and other goodies. If you are ever interested in trying any of these, let me know. ____@____.com
Maybe you'll wake up this morning, and it won't be as bad as it was last night. Just don't let it dry out, and it shouldn't start flaking. Good luck! -- M.
i agree that aloe is the best, but i also wanted to tell you to stay away from moisturizers that contain mineral oil. it traps the heat in your skin and makes the burn worse! this is from several personal experience (guess i'm a slow learner) and from some studies i've read. good luck!
Hi S.. I know this is going to sound funny, but I had to mention it because it works so well! My hubby (also blond, blue-eyed) and I burn easily. It was recommended to me to try Arbonne Herbal Foot Cream on our sunburned areas. I tried it last summer and it was absolutely AWESOME! It worked so well. It felt really good and literally cleared up the sunburn immediately. I think it has something to do with all the botanical and herbal extracts in it. But, it's very soothing and really works. If you're interested, I do have some, and would be happy to drop it off for you. It's just $5/tube. Or, you can check it out online at: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com. Good luck. It's no fun having a burn!

I usually just use pure aloe vera you can get it at walmart.and a cold compress before each time i put the aloe on. it helps easy the burn.K.
you can blot apple cider vinegar on the burn with a cotton ball. you can also try coconut oil. and of course...the real aloe vera is great.
My mom used to put Noxema on me when I got burned when I was younger. I am also very fair and also allergic to aloe vera, so I can't use those gels. I still use it, and it does seem to take out the burn of it and a little of the redness.
To remove the heat mix some baking soda in cold water. Soak a wash rag in the water then lay it on your burn. The rag will get hot (pulling out the heat). Resoak and continue. Works great!
We use Aloe Vera and take Ibuprofen for the pain.

Great hydrating gel called Emprizone from Mannatech.com. Main ingredient is aloe vera. It's light-weight and not sticky. It's specially formulated so the aloe is actually still active -- just like if you'd broken a leaf off the plant. The aloe in regular store-bought preparations has a cooling effect, but the healing properties are absent due to processing.
OK, this is going to sound really CRAZY, but a hot shower takes the burn out!! Yes I said hot. Start off cool, and gradually up the temp untill you can almost not stand it. It is amazing how quickly it works. I usually burn to a crisp at least once a year (by going somewhere and forgetting the sunscreen, I know dumb), but with a hot shower by the next day or two the red is a beautiful tan.
I don't usually do anything special for my face though as my face burns just by being in the car, but for everywhere else...hot shower. (if that doesn't help...vinegar. It burns like crazy but wash it off as soon as you just can't take it anymore and viola, burn is gone!)
I'm also fair and have sunburned most of my life! I usually keep the cheap Aloe Vera from Wal-Mart on hand. I keep it in the refrigerator! That way it's nice and cold when I need it and cools me off while it heals the burn. I also take a shower as fast as possible. I find it helps take the burn out, but I try to get to it quickly. If I wait it doesn't seem to help as much. There are lots of Aloe Veras out there, but in my experience, the more expensive they are, the less they help! Good luck!
Hey S.,
I know you've gotten your answer, and this is a thing of the past, but it never hurts to ask... I also noticed you had several suggestions, that's great! If you are at all interested, Mary Kay just launched a new skin care system that you would probably love! I used it on vacation (I fried myself my first day in the sun) and no joke by the next day I was fine to go out again! Anyways, I also know you mentioned knowing about the daily routine, if you'd like a new routine, I'd love to show you our on the go products! That way you can still be fast paced and get what you need on a daily basis! I bet you would love our face wash cloths and tinted moisturizer. Its a two step process that takes care of all 7 skin care steps! Ask for details if you'd like...
