How can I get the sunblock out of my daughters hair? We went to the lake yesterday and reapplied sunblock several times and now the top of her head especially her bangs look dirty and are greasy feeling and looking (and it is hard to brush). I cannot get the sunblock out when I washed & conditioned her hair. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it out quick I really dont want it to have it look dirty the whole holiday weekend. Thanks !!

What can I do next?

Ditto what JC said... you might also try Dawn dish soap since the wildlife rescuers use that to wash crude oil off birds and other animals...

I second the dawn dish soap, I have had to resort to it when my little man thought putting vaseline in his hair was funny.

Dawn dish soap? For cloth diapering we use it when we have either detergent build up or when oil based diaper creams get on the cloth. Works like a charm. Should work with sunscreen to since that is lots of oil.

I'm really surpised that shampoo doesn't work. Are you really scrubbing the shampoo into that area with the pads of your fingers? There are shampoos made especially to remove product build-up...one of these might work.

I've heard people say that you should put baby powder in your hair to reduce greasiness if you don't want to shower so frequently. Maybe that would work for your problem?

when two of our dogs glued themselves together using a glue trap for mice, we had to use mineral oil to separate them... talk about a greasy nightmare of a mess(did i mentiion this happened at 2am, on a night my husband worked til midnight, i was having preterm labor issues at 30 weeks pregnant, and my 2yo had been puking for HOURS? ah, fun times!). after several washes, we gave up, crated the dogs overnight and spoke with our vet... we ended up alternating dawn dish soap and selsun blue until the grease was out. and i have to ask, what kind of sunscreen did you use? we have a pool outside and swim daily and i have NEVER had this happen - want to make sure we avoid that stuff!
