K.,
I would check out any sunscreen you use against the Environmental Working Group's safe cosmetics database. There are many toxic and cancer causing ingredients in sunscreens you would not want going into your child's body if you only knew what was in there! The list of companies who have signed the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and have agreed not to put any of those ingredients in their products can be found at http://www.safecosmetics.org/companies/signers.cfm. You can look up all your lotions, shampoos, makeups and lipsticks on the Skin Deep database at www.ewg.org/skindeep.
Here is a clip from that website: The companies listed above have pledged to not use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects in their products and to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives in every market they serve. Several major cosmetics companies, including OPI, Avon, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal, Revlon, Proctor & Gamble and Unilever have thus far refused to sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics.
Since I have started using this database, I feel so much better about whatever I'm slathering all over our bodies in the name of health and safety! ;-) By the way, I didn't see Arbonne or Aveeno on that list. Be sure you check under the Baby Skin Care Sunscreen area so you'll be sure to get the absolute safest product for your children.
