My daughter's elementary school is giving her 4 hours a week of special instruction which has help greatly with inproving her reading. We suspect she may be dyslexic and will test her soon. Since she has made great improvement through the school year with the extra help, I want to involve her in some type of program during the summer so she doesn't fall behind again and can start second grade on a level field. I am looking for program recommendations. Both my husband and I work fulltime so my daughter will be enrolled in her after school program all day during the summer. I need a program that either has weekend or evening hours or one that is located near Flower Mound so I can arrange for transportation.

TCU offers a program that is recommended from keller isd. tcu.readingprograms.org 18009648888 They have lots of locations and sat & sun classes. hope this helps.

I am the Director at Reading Friends, an academic preschool for children 2 - Kindergarten. We do have a tutoring program. All of our Language curriculum is based in Orton-Gillingham and we currently use MTS in our Kindergarten class. MTS is the general ed version of MTA, which is LISD's dyslexia program. MTS is a multisensory language program that basically breaks down the rules of the English language. It is language therapy approach originally designed for dyslexic/learning different students, but the wonderful thing is that it works for everyone!

There are several places that do tutoring for reading. and many of them have weekend and evening hours. There is Sylvan, Kumon and Huntington learning centers. Some will not work with dyslexia so you will have to check.
I had great tutorial help in teaching my girls to read(both are dyslexic). I used Tom and Peggy Chesnutt (____@____.com), private reading specialists, whose attitude is that EVERY child CAN learn to read. They are in Irving; they were quite a hike from Keller but worth every mile. Anyway, I found them to be reasonably priced, loving, patient, creative, focused…Awesome!

You may want to look in to a private tutor, that way you can work around your schedule. I am a 1st grade teacher and tutored in the past, I always worked around the parents' schedules, that way you can either provide transportation or they can come to your house. Good luck!
