We sign our son (now 10) up for the Plano Parks & Recs programs. He LOVES Kids Capers and has participated in that for the past 3 years. We usually sign him up for either one or two of their two-week sessions.
Hi there,
I'm looking for a fun summer program for my son who is eight years old. Typically, in the past, we've kept him at his aftershool daycare, however, I was wondering if there was something "different" out there that we could try. Any ideas?

Hi! I have three great stepkids, ages 6,8, and 11. We send them to programs that are hosted by Plano Parks and Recreation during the summer. They really enjoy them and the prices are very reasonable. There is a two week long day camp called Camp Cimarron that the kids especially enjoy, and also a two week long 1/2 day program called "Kid Capers" in addition to all kinds of other camps, sports, and fun classes. Registration begins March 18th for this summer.

Let me know if you have any questions.
The University of Gymnastics in Plano has a Summer camp that is supposed to be AWESOME. My girlfriend raves about it, so I was going to check into it for my son this year. Supposedly, they have gymnastics, indoor swimming lessons and a carnival on the last day of camp. You might want to look into it.
Both the Legacy and Russell Creek YMCA will be having summer camps. There are several options for 8 yr olds. They are having a regular camp each week with lots of activities such as swimming, archery, sports, gym games, arts and crafts and more. They will have a field trip each week going to places such as Ft Worth Zoo, Hawaiian Falls, Rough Riders Game, Six Flags, Interskate, NRH20, Speed Zone, Strikz. Then they also have specialty games such as Art Camp, Survivor Camp(they will do a overnite campout), Rock & Roll camp ( rollerblading, skateboarding and rock climbing), Tennis Clinic, Cooking for Kids, Texas Cruisin(a different field trip everyday,Six Flags, NRH20, Hurricane Harbor), Fishing Camp. Registration is coming up soon. The information will be on the website soon. www.planoymca.org or www.russellcreekymca.org
