My 20 Month old son seems to be getting blisters on his feet from all plastic sandals. Will foam sandals help? I also tried socks with his sandals but them just seem soaking. Is is time to go back to the tenny runners.

What can I do next?

As the others have said, you need to go to leather. After 3 bouts of athletes foot before my oldest was 2 1/2, we gave in and only buy Stride Rite - they seem to be the only brand that is ALL leather, not a combination. Yes, they can be pricey but it just means my kids have three pairs of shoes only - one sneakers, one for church, and one pair of sandals (leather only) in the summer. Its all they really need anyway. Sounds like your little guy has the same issue of feet needing to "breathe." The only place he NEEDS shoes is outside to prevent cuts, etc - let him go barefoot wherever possible - its actually better for his feet. I'd avoid the crocs - my doc said she's seeing a large number of kids w/fungus problems from wearing crocs without socks.

M.: leather sandals, yes, and barefoot at home if he likes it, but if his feet are tender, then still, natural is always better than rubber.
Believe me or not, my 48 y/o husband has so tender feer, he cannot walk barefoot, his feet just do not feel it right, they are like babyfeet, in this age!!!, although he is a fimish carpenter, and while working, he walks and stays all day long, so much 'pressure' on his feet, but they still look and feel like he never walked in his life! So, try different things and see what helps. Good walking to your son !!! :)

I would recommend keeping ur baby/child away from plastic shoes. Barefoot is good in the house as the person below me said. I only let my kids wear normal sandals. I actually got warts on my feet when I was a kid due to wearing shoes that wouldnt let my feet breathe properly. I remember teh doctor telling my mom only leather shoes and that she had to cut the head off of the warts to put the medicine directly in it. Wasn't fun for her to do it, or for me to have it done.

Spend the extra money on getting proper footware. (My childrens sandals sometimes cost more then mine, but id rahter not take any chances.) As my mom now says, you only get one pair of feet, take care of em.

Babies feet need support more so than air. I let my kids walk barefoot in the house and if they go out it need to be sock and shoes. You might try crocs. If they are too pricey then they have some at family dollar. Good luck!!

For some kids, plastic shoes of any type can be extrememly hard on them. I'd go back to the tennies, for sure. I can't wear plastic at all and neither can my youngest son.
