Suggestions for Pregnant Woman in CA with Really Dry and Itching Skin

I am 32 weeks pregnant and really have dry skin. I think part of it is the desert air here (sometimes less than 5% humidity) and part is the pregnancy - no underlying medical condition though. Can anyone recommend a good product (oil or lotion) ideally with no preservatives, parabens, etc. Especially the skin of my hands is irritated and very rough from washing my hands frequently. Any gentle soap recommendations would be appreciated as well :) Thanks

AMLactin is a lotion my dermatologist recommended for my contact dermatitis, which I can get when my skin dries out. It's great--light, absorbs well, no fragrance, and it works.

Gentle cleansing--Cetaphyl. You can use it like liquid soap, but it's much easier on the skin.

Good luck!

I just had my 1st baby girl 15 weeks ago. Somewhere around 7 months I developed PUPPPS, a rare and annoying but harmless pregnancy related rash. In addition to my prescription strength cream I took an Aveeno oatmeal bath every night. It seems counter intuitive to bathe more when your skin is dry, but the oatmeal bath is gentle and soothing and moisturizing. It definitely provided an all over relief. I'm feeling the usual dry skin associated with the weather too and am ready to get back into my bath!

I would suggest applying first a body oil then a body lotion after bathing and before drying. Pat dry. You'll be slick but it'll really help. :)

Almond oil works great.its a little expensive but worth it. It keeps the skin moisturized and prevents stretch marks.

Some Cocoa Butter from any drugstore will do the trick. That is a very thick, rich cream -- just perfect for the job.

My skin has been really dry too. At night I use Mary Kay Extra Emolient Night Cream. My skin feels so much better in the morning. My husband, who is in construction, is using it now too. You can get it at www.marykay.com/cinakmanu.

Also, after taking a shower I put on exfoiliating gloves and pour some baby oil on them. I scrub my entire body with it. When I get out of the shower my skin feels wonderful.

I LOVE Mother's Friend! It comes in a little jar as a cream, and a small bottle as an oil. I use the oil every morning out of the shower and the cream every night before I go to bed.
Seriously awesome stuff! :)
For soap, try the Dove with oil, I think it's called Nutraoil? It has a mild scent, but leaves your skin really soft.
Good luck!
