My mom, sister, and I are going to Las Vegas in October and I'm in charge of booking the reservation. I was just there in April and stayed at the Wynn, but my mom and sister do not want to spend that much. We don't want to stay in a dump either :) Room cleanliness and a nice hotel atmosphere are at the top of the list! Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

What can I do next?

Mandalay Bay always has deals and it is nice. MGM has deals a lot too-- haven't stayed there but know people who did and like it. Personally, I love the Bellagio but you'd have to get a deal if the Wynn is too much and the location of Paris is terrific. I would google Las Vegas hotel deals or watch Travelzoo's weekly top 20 travel deals.

I stayed at the MGM when I was there for a conference. It was amazing. You might check Expedia or something...they tend to have cheap rates sometimes. I'm not sure how much the rooms were but you can usually find cheap deals if you visit travelzoo.com

Have fun!

My parents stay at Ballys which is connected to the Paris and not as expensive. It is an older hotel and looks it, but the room was clean and bigger than the room my husband and I had at Paris. Since they are connected, it's easy to get to the Paris side for the nicer restaurants, casinos and overall atmosphere. My parents had no trouble getting into the Paris pool either. I don't want to judge your mom's age, but my parents get great senior rates.

Do yoiu have to stay on the strip? If you go to one of the other casinos (Fiesta, Casino Station, Sunset Station, ones like that), they are often cheaper..... and if you rent a car, you can still drive to the strip for other stuff.

Also, when you go there, go ahead and sign up for one of the casino rewards cards.... I have one, and get tons of e-mail about cheap hotel rates. I'm not a big spender, either. I stay with my sister when I go, since she lives in Las Vegas.

Check Groupon... they often have travel deals, too....

Personally, I loved the Venician. But, I think that all of the hotels on the strip are nice. If I were you, I'd call a travle agent and let them know that you want to stay on the strip for the best deal. I bet you can find a fabulous rate at one of the large hotels. Besides, you are harly in the room - it's better to spend your cash on shows and gambling and eating. The Bellagio brunch is to die for!

The Excalibur is really cool and has lots of fun stuff going on.

And for cheaper gambling, go to Freemont Street one night. It's a $25 cab ride but there are $2 and $5 tables in some casinos like the 4 Queens.

FUN!!!!

If you don't need to be on the strip, then stay at one of the STATION casinos. There are a handful all over the valley.

Treasure Island is another great option. Owned by the same company that runs Belagio and Mirage.

Mandalay Bay - The Hotel. I like the suite. Since, it's at the end of the strip, it's a little less expensive but still VERY nice.
Paris, you're still in the middle the strip and it's a little less than the Wynn. If you get a room across from Bellagio, you can watch the Bellagio fountain. Last time we were there, we got free hors d'oeuvres(?) and breakfast with our room. The hors d'oeuvres is a pre-dinner 'appetizer bar' that starts at 5 or 6 pm. The spread was awesome! You can literally skip dinner! The breakfast was the best free breakfast I've ever had. The food is better than Marmalade Cafe!
Have fun!

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan the last time we went and loved it! I have also stayed at Caesar's and Bally's. Bally's was my least favorite and it was probably 15 years ago that I stayed there, so I'm not sure what it is like now. Caesar's is nice. maybe try Hotwire? Just used that for a room in Orlando and it was awesome. Got a great room for half of the normal rate. You can specify the number of stars you want in a hotel and it will give you a general area of where it is, but you won't know exactly what hotel until you book, so if a specific location is a must, it's not for you. Good luck!

We liked the Luxor, Caesar's Palace, Belliago, Mandalay Bay, MGM, and the Wynn

There are a lot of nice places out there and most of the time they are not wildly expensive because they want you to spend money in the casino!

We've stayed at Excalibur - kind of at the far end of the strip, at the time, anyway.

Have you considered staying on Fremont Street? (aka, the Old Strip?) That's where all the neon is. I've stayed there, too, at the Four Queens, and rather enjoyed it.

If you are planning on renting a car, you can drive down, and leave it in one of the parking garages for the newer casinos, and spend the day (or night, I suppose). That way, you get both sides of Vegas!
