T.T.
We bought a Keurig for a post Christmas present ( with the $$ from a few gift returns.)
We totally love it and there are so many tea, cider and cocoa options ( we arnt coffee drinkers)
My husband and I are giving our livers a 6 week break now that the holidays are done! LOL We probably drank 3-4 nights out of every week in Dec. just from going to parties, being on vacation etc!!! A few nights a week we usually have a glass or two of wine after the kiddos are in bed but since we are omitting that I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a different non-alcoholic drink or low calorie treat to have in its place? Something that won't make us gain weight in the process? :) Thanks!

We don't drink at all... but there are some good sparkling ciders and such that are yummy and a little bubbly, I like cranberry. What about a Shirley Temple? We put it a bit of oj or sprite in ginger ale, a bit of grenadine and a maraschino cherry.
If you haven't tried MiO, try it. It comes in a little squeeze bottle and is super concentrated. I have two Gatorade bottles (32 oz) I've been reusing forever...I keep them with water in the fridge. When I want a drink, I put in two generous squirts of MiO...Sweet Tea flavor. Tastes JUST like the best southern sweet tea I've ever had, but has no calories, no sugar, no caffeine...not much of anything, really. Probably artificial sweeteners, but I really don't care. Tastes SOO good.
It comes in six flavors...the others are Mango Peach, Peach Tea, Strawberry Watermelon, Fruit Punch, and Blueberry Pomegranate (which I haven't tried.) I am not wild about the Fruit Punch, but the others are good. Not nearly as sweet as Kool-Aid. Nice bonus...you can flavor to taste.
I love hot chocolate--not the super sweet mix but real cocoa made on the stove with unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar and milk (you can control how much sugar and what kind of milk). I also like herbal tea or Chai if it is cold. If where you live isn't so cold you could do a fruit smoothie with fruit and yogurt.
San Pellagrino (or other sparkling water) + ice + lime wedge
Still water in the fridge (it needs to sit for a bit) with mint, cucumber, & lime
Greentea Lemonade
Espresso
you can let still water sit in the fridge with fruit too. Yummy (lasts for a couple of days). Melon & mint is a wonderful combination. Herbal ice tea is nice too. You can just steep the bags in the water if you don't want to boil and chill. Fresh fruit and yogurt - a friend added crystalized ginger and it was wonderful. Baked fruit.
Thanks for reminding me of all these low-calorie options. I'm also trying to cut out the wine with dinner and need some more interesting beverages to take its place.
