I had one at Christmas-started that night. It finally went away after putting cold clothes on it. I asked the doc at my daughter's appt and she said they can come from stress or bacteria in the eye-or touching something and then rubbing the eye. Similisan makes a drop for styes. It is supposed to help heal and relieve the symptoms. Also, make sure your daughter washes her hands often and does not rub her eyes.

rub a gold ring on it but the ring has to be solid gold. I am not sure where they come from.

as soon as they show up put a warm (not too hot or it will burn her skin) cloth thing on her eyes. do this as often as you can.

My mother's generation believed that rubbing a gold ring over a sty helped it to heal. Old wives tale! From my experience it didn't do a thing except when the sty itches it's a clean way to scratch it.

My doctor told me to put hot, wet compresses on a sty to draw out the infection. It's always worked for me.

I believe that stress and vitamin deficiencies are involved in getting a sty. I've also heard that eye strain can cause a sty. I don't know if that's true or not because I heard that along with the gold ring treatment.

This really works. Make a cup of tea with a tea bag. Let it cool a few minutes . Take a spoon and squeeze excess water out of it . Hold it with a paper towel so you don't stain your hands. Place it on closed eye ntil it cools. Repeat maybe 3 times. Make sure not to place on eye when scalding hot but still pretty warm.Do it again with new cup of tea about 6 hours later. It will be gone in a day.Good luck:)

Styes are basically zits. Most come from bacteria and dirt. My friends little girl gets a lot of them because her hair is constantly in her face (her bangs). I used to get them when I was a kid because of the glasses I wore. I never thought of cleaning them. Some get so bad you need to see a doc, but they have over the counter stuff for them. Good Luck.

My daughter (when she was 2) had like 14 styes in one month. I took her to the doctor after she had four, and they told me to put warm compresses on it to 'ease' out the white head. After she started getting them almost daily, I called back and was referred to a specialist. They told me she has blepharitis which is basically dandruff of the eyelids and that because of the dandruff, she was getting the styes. The cure? Warm soapy (yes soapy) wash clothes over the eyes. Well you can imagine how easy it is to wash a 2 year olds eyelids with a soapy rag!!! It was NOT! I just kept putting a warm compress on each one when they popped up and eventually they went away and she has not had another and that over a year ago! I thought it was from her being outside, dirty hands in her eyes, etc or maybe while having dirty hands from putting her hands 'down there' while we changed her diaper but they dismissed that idea and said that some kids just have them more than others. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but thought I'd share!
