My Nook did the same thing. It was an issue with the cord. Barnes and Noble exchanged it for me without any argument whatsoever. I haven't had any other issues with my Nook.
this is my second nook for different reasons. Last night I shut it off and put it on the charger well I forgot it this morning and told bf to take it off. It had not charged at all. The light was on on the charger! Has anyone had this issue. We are taking the charger to see if there is a problem with that but if its not I am making barnes and noble take the darn thing back and I am getting a kindle. I am sick of the issues with this stupid thing. The other issue was that it would work for a week and then not want to turn on and I would have to manually reset every time it did this. Making me have to find all of my stuff back.
Has anyone else had these issues with theirs?
S.H. - Its a nook color. I would have taken it off as usual but last night was an opps thing. But It did not charge at all... Like not a bit. I also usually let it die about once a week so that it keeps a longer battery. Uhg I am regretting this purchase.

Well, I have a story to share on that.
I write books, therefor am the crotchety old writer who clings to her paper book.
BUT...my MIL gave my husband her old Nook when she got a new one. My husband LOVED it! I stuck to my paper books.
BUT...Dean Koontz (one of my fav authors) put out some books strictly on Ebooks, so I caved and purchased all three. I had to admit, it wasn't as horrible as I thought. I even thought about getting one for me.
BUT...(sense a theme here?) the second I read all three books the screen went fuzzy, then the lines of death appeared. Sadly, the nook never worked again. I don't know why, but electronics and I have never gotten along. Especially ever since I caught that vacuum on fire, they REALLY have a personal vendetta against me.
So, for Christmas I got my husband a Kindle Fire and a promise not to touch it. I'll stick to my old school paper books.
BUT...Koontz has another EBook only coming out...
I've had mine for a year and a half with no issues whatsoever.
I have had mine for 3 years now and have not had a single problem with it at all. I love my Nook however that being said i have the original and have heard of other people having problems like this with the newer versions
*Edit:
With electronic gadgets/computers etc., it is always good to get a surge protector, to then plug them into. Power Surges and whatnot, can fry a gadget.
-----------------
Nooks do not take overnight to charge.
That is too long.
Once it is fully charged, you should unplug it. Just like with any other tech gadget or cell phone. You can, overcharge the battery.
Read this link about it and per the Nook:
http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/NOOK-First-Edition...
Are you attaching your Nook, directly to an outlet, or to a surge protector that is attached to the outlet? If attached to a surge protector, make sure the on/off switch on the surge protector is "on." If not nothing plugged into it will charge.
We have a Nook. What kind of Nook do you have?
We have the Nook HD.
We have had no problems with it.
Take yours to a Barnes & Noble store.
They have free customer service for it.
I got a Nook tablet last year and have never had problems.
Can you find out if you got a refurbished one?
Get a Kindle if you use your e-reader alot. I did research before I bought mine and all the features were about the same. The only difference is if you would rather talk to someone face to face at the B&N Nook kiosk, or over the phone with Amazon, if you need tech support or have questions.
I have 3 kindle fires, and all three have been returned & replaced by Amazon several times for charging issues. Our issue is that after a month or two of working fine, when you plug the charger in, the charging port seems to get 'wiggly' and it won't connect to the charger. No light and no charge.
I've read on the customer service board at Amazon that this is a pretty common problem -- but I'm not sure if they've fixed it in the newer version of the Kindles.
Unfortunately, the warranties have expired on all three, so when these break I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I love my kindle.
my MIL got a nook as a gift from my FIL (she wanted the kindle lol). she says it's okay, and she'd never let on he got the wrong thing, but the Kindle apparently has tons more books, lots of out-of-print stuff too, that the Nook doesn't have.
i got my aunts hand-me-down kindle (bottom of the line, she upgraded) - and i'm reading all her books on it, and i love it. zero problems. unless it's constantly connected to synch, the battery lasts at least a week and charges overnight. good luck!
My MIL got a NOOK for her birthday last year and it was faulty in some way, it just would not hold a charge. I have one and when fully charged it will go for a really long time. She took it back and they exchanged it and all has been fine since then.

My mom had one when they first came out and she loved it. She had it for awhile then she broke it. It was her doing not a faulty Nook. She got another one on black Friday last year and no problems and she loves it. She doesn't get one with all the bells and whistles so they may be part of it.
I have tablet and CAN use it to read as well, but I never have. I will go down fighting when it comes to books! haha I do see where they come in handy though.
Anyway good luck!
So glad I hadn't purchased the nook HD+ 32G yet there was another complaint about a nook last week now yours yes they are several versions of nooks then as I looked on sites for feedback their weren't many "free downloads" as expected looking into Nexxus7 now.I would take it back, but before you do did you plug it in correctly
OMG I just dealt with almost the same thing this weekend. Friggin Nook. My daughter uses it for her school reading and forgot to put it on the charger. Had to charge it for a full day and it still almost didnt want to take the charge. Finally started to charge and work on Sunday and it was on the charger since Sat Morning. Pain in the arse.
