Stuff in Newborns Eye

My daughter is a little over a month old now and I have noticed a few times that there will be stuff laying rite on her actual eyeball. Like one day it was an eye booger/sleepy and it was easy for her to blink and me to get it. But this morning it was hair or something like hair. And I think it was bothering her but there was no way for me to help her with it. I tried to get her to look certain ways so it would move to the corner. Nothing worked. So do they have a way to get that kind of stuff our or would that gross hair or whatever still be in there somewhere that I can't see?

What can I do next?

Take a cotton ball or clean washcloth and wet it with plain water. Wipe the eye from the inside to the outside corners. Make sure you use a different cotton ball or different part of the washcloth for each eye. She may have blocked tear duct, which is pretty common. They usually clear up on their own, but it's important to keep them clean. One of my 4 had a tear duct that didn't clear up on it's own, and we had to take him to a specialist to have it unblocked. Don't hesitate to have your DD's Pedi check it out if you think it doesn't look right.
Best wishes :o)

Usually having something irritating in the eye causes tears that wash it out. You can also help it out by using eye drops or even by carefully pulling it out after thoroughly washing your hands. My mother always used a clean hankie to get stuff out of our eyes.

It;s not still in there somewhere.

Take a warm washcloth and place it on her eye and rub it around when her eyes are closed. If this seems to be a continual problem, call the pediatricians office and see what they say or if they want her to come in for an appointment.

I would just leave it and let blinking take care of it. I think you would do more harm by trying to get it out.
