Hi M.,

My husband and I are currently studying the Bible...there are a number of wonderful resources available. My husband works long hours and most times doesn't have time to sit down and flip through the Bible....BUT found a wonderful way to still study the Bible online, a much faster & easier way for him. Check out the following links: The first one is a Bible Study itself...walks you through the Bible. The second website is an online Bible...where you can find scriptures, etc., while you are using the Bible Study website.

http://www.biblestudylessons.com/
http://www.biblegateway.com/

If it's books you are more interested in, I'm currently reading "Mom's Devotional Bible" (NIV) by Zondervan. It's simple to understand for those of us who may be new to reading and applying Scripture. And the passages are wonderful for "new" or "old" mom's with issues on motherhood and raising our children. Here is a link from Amazon (you can get this Bible at most book stores): http://www.amazon.com/NIV-Moms-Devotional-Bible-Zondervan...

Also, I go to Harvest Bible Chapel http://www.harvestbible.org/ (there are several locations...Rolling Meadows, Niles, Elgin, Crystal Lake, just to name a few)...we have a WONDERFUL Mother's Bible Study called "Entrusted with a Child's Heart" (that I'm currently taking and I absolutely LOVE...it is helping me become a better mom...a Godly Mom, raising my children God's way.) The class runs Sept.-Apr. (so we are almost done with this year...but it will be starting up again in Sept. 2008). I HIGHLY recommend this class for mom's to be, new mom's, old mom's, step-mom's, for ANY mother out there. Here's the link for more info. on the Study http://www.ewach.com/

Hope you find the perfect Bible, book, or class to fit your needs.

God Bless!
~V.

Congratulations! That is so exciting! It is hard to get too specific without knowing how new you are or how much you already know. But my husband and I talked a bit and came up with a couple books. The first is a very basic book - "The world's easiest guide to understanding the Bible" by Stan Campbell. The next is called "Knowing the Face of God" by Tim Stafford. The last, which you may have heard of, is "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. This one is divides into 40 days and has a few pages for each day. Lastly, a devotional Bible that is divided into days and has notes and things would also be good. I would recommend going to a Christian book store to look at them and ask an employee, because they would probably be able to give you more specific ideas after talking to you. Also, get plugged into a church and ask other women, or the pastor, what they would recommend. It is so important for you to be in community with other Christians. I don't know where you live or if you already have a home church, and I know one person mentioned Harvest (we have friends who go there), but we go to First Baptist (or Elm Church, elmchurch.org) in Elmhurst. We have a women's group meeting now, a men's group, activities for kids and youth during the week and on Sundays. Lastly, don't be afraid to just jump in and start reading. Pick a spot, like the Psalms or the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and just start reading. The Bible is not a mysterious book. Of course there are things to get from study guides and all, but you might be surprised how much you'll understand if you just start reading. God Bless!

Hi M.,
I hear Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby is a good bible study. I have not done it but my husband has.

I really have enjoyed any bible studies by Nancy Leigh DeMoss or Beth Moore. Both woman have several bible studies and are both really good and helping you study the bible and explaining things as well. But I believe Beth Moore has a lot of bible studies with DVD's with her teaching (which is more useful if you join a class at a church since buying a set is expensive) but I know Nancy Leigh DeMoss has just regular bible study books you read and study the bible.

I attend Harvest Bible Chapel as well and they have a woman's bible study groups that meet on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings. You can go on the website for more info- but you also don't have to be a church member and go. I have a lady who attends another church who is in the bible study I am in.

Hope you find one that suits you! =)

Beliefnet.com is a great resource to use on a daily basis, also Moody Bible Church is wonderful. Also, Apostolic Church of God (Bishop Arthur M. Brazier) and Willow Creek Church are awesome places to find out more information on getting in a right relationship with God. Just keep trusting and looking, He'll direct your path.

the best place is your church's bible class. there you can be instructed by a minister. i love bible class because it is a open forum to ask questions and learn from others as they expound on the word. feel free to stop over at 8332 s. ashland on wednesday @ 7:30pm. we have a great class and the word is taught under the anointing of God because it is what the word says and not mans private interpretation.

The Story is the Bible rewritten in correct chronological order, which makes it easier to understand.
It is still the Bible, but it is such a great read.

Joyce Meyer Ministries....a wonderful woman of God, you can check her out online, she is on TV, and you can get her magazine, and download her podcasts.

Congrats on your new relationship with God.

Happy Easter

There is the Bible for Dummies. Makes it very easy. Also, Growing Closer to God.
Watch Joyce Meyer on TV if you can. She is on several times a day, many stations and very good. Any of her books are great as well. Joel Osteen has several good books too.
