I would recommend a sit and stand and plan on the 19 month old in the stroller a lot of the time, the 3 1/2 year old only hopping on occasionally and wearing the baby in a moby wrap or ergo.
Hello,
I have 2 young ds's already and just became pregnant with a 3rd. When the 3rd is born (june), the other two ds's will be 3 1/2 and 19mo. I think for a while at least all 3 of them are going to require a stroller, especially for a zoo day or something. ANy suggestions? I have a phil & ted dbl now but I don't think it can add a buggy board. I'm thinking of maybe a double with a board or some combination like that. help please...

I think the Sit and Stand is a good option as I don't think ALL will be in the stroller ALL the time. You can carry the baby in a wrap/Bjorn type item, when you want to put the baby down, have the older walk and hold your hand or hang on to the stroller. I personally don't care to lug big huge strollers around and I like to get out even without the help of another adult. So I would make the Sit and Stand configuration work between the 3 kids.
Congrats on your new baby!
My first thought was to carry the baby in a carrier and stick with the stroller you have, but there have been several sling recalls lately, so that maybe is not such a good option until baby is at least 4 month or even older.
If you are out with all three, I would assume that there are likely also two adults. If that is true, I would not look for a 3 seater but only for a sturdy umbrella stroller for the 3 yr old and have the other two in the double stroller. We got the Chicco Liteway last spring and really like it, in case this helps. When I was looking for double strollers, I was amazed at how heavy they were and can only assume that a 3 seater would be that much heavier.
Or again stay with the same stroller you have and get a base-stroller only for the infant seat. We had a Baby Trend Snap 'n Go Stroller - Single Snap. This is basically only the stroller structure, no seat and the infant seat just snaps into place. It is wonderfully light-weight and easy to push with one hand.
Hope this helps!
One Step Ahead (find them on the web) carries a board that you can hook on to the double you already have. It may be worth checking into. I found that when my kids hit 4 years old they no longer wanted to ride, and insisted on walking. Best of luck to you!
i have the valco twin, i LOVE it. its huge and expensive, and it is awesome. my kids are now 3,5, and 7, and i still put all 3 in it on big outings. i have been using and abusing this stroller almost daily for about 4 years, dont know what i would do without it. if you wanna know more, let me know...
I would probably carry the new baby in a wrap or Baby Bjorn for awhile. You are in a tricky time period with your three year old. Both of my older kids were out of the stroller by four but I know families that are or were not. So if you do the body carrier route for awhile, it will give you a chance to figure out where you oldest is going.
I would not invest in a three kid stroller. Your oldest one is soooo close to not needing it.
I love the "runabout" stroller. I had 4 babies in 5 years and the kids loved it. However, I use it for jogging and don't take it shopping or anything. For outdoor places it would be perfect. I agree with others that using a sling or carrier for the youngest and using a 2 kid stroller is a great idea :)
You could get a stroller designed for three kids. Double Decker® Stroller, Inc.
The company says that they make a stroller that holds 2 todlers and 1 infant. I have never used them but saw the web site.
We had a Mountain Buggy Urban double with bassinet kit, plus we ordered a buggy board which worked well. Or, you can just put the baby in a sling -- that's what I do when I go into the city with our P&T and my three. Or (and what might be possible) by June, your oldest will really be able to walk and you can repurpose the P&T. Good luck, congrats!
