Stroller Needed and Other off Topic Question

I am in need of a stroller. We have a jogging stroller, but we need something for when we are indoors (malls, stores, restaurants).

Also, I was wondering what do you do with your baby when he cant quite sit up on his own in the highchairs provided at restaurants, and he has outgrown his infant car seat, and his convertable car seat stays in the car? I have tried to hold him while I eat, but he reaches for everything on the table. Any advice?

What can I do next?

We did the blanket/jacket prop thing, too. Sometimes I would even stick my diaper bag in there to sort of wedge her in a sitting position. Those cart/highchair covers are nice, we just never invested in one. This phase is pretty short-lived. He will be sitting on his own before you know it! Also, some places have better highchairs than others, with higher backs and better buckle systems...you might look for those when you go out. We ended up buying a portable seat to take with us, it had more stability than the highchairs and it folded up so we could take it with us wherever we needed it, even after my daughter cpuld sit by herself! Good luck!

Hi Victoria.

I've been through the same problem with restaurants, etc. What I have done in the past with my first son is to keep the infant car seat with me in the car (not using it while driving of course) and use it as seat for my son while in the restaurant. It seems like a hassle, but it worked for us.

Propping is probably best, but we used a highchair cover that seemed to make the fit tight enough that she was fine.

My big suggestion, though, is to buy a BUMBO. http://www.bumboseat.com/adwords/bumbowords1.html

It helped our DD to sit up VERY early, so the highchair, shopping cart, booster seat thing wasn't a big problem. It can REALLY help teach proper sitting to young ones. It seems boys tend to be a bit slower at sitting up well, anyway.

Hope that helps!

We propped our kids with a blanket or jacket (ours were this age in the fall). We also have the portable high chair/booster (I think it's called the "Fold 'N' Go" Booster). We used it a few times in restaurants without a problem. It folds up so you can take it anywhere, and it's quite handy for visiting friends and relatives. Kids also use the boosters through the toddler/preschool years when they're too big for the high-chair but can't quite reach the table at meal time. For $20 or so, it's been a pretty useful investment.

No help with the stroller. But, we used a high chair/grocery cart cover in restaurant highchairs until our son could sit up well enough. The one we have is really padded, so we would just kind of wedge him in there and he loved it. Sometimes he would just slump over and knaw on the cover, but that was okay---it is machine washable, so we knew it was alot cleaner than the highchair or grocery cart!!! It is the Boppy Seat from Toys R Us, but they sell them everywhere.

Hi Victoria,

I found that when my daughter was not quite ready to sit in the highchair at restaurants and shopping carts on her own, I could prop one of those pillows behind her that people use around their necks on airplanes and it was the perfect size to help keep her positioned so she wouldn't fall over.

We would bring something to prop him up. When fall hits you will have you jackets with you that will work fine. For know bring one of his blankets or a small pillow.
