Stroller Etiquette Advice

I had a front/back and was very happy! When it broke, I got a side/side....hated it...poor fitting in spaces. Wish I could still keep them in stroller, but they're taller than me!

I am pregnant, due in May and will have a 20 month old and newborn. I babywear my 16 month old a lot now and only occasionally use a stroller, but will need one more with the new baby coming. I plan to babywear the newborn whenever I push the bigger. There are some awesome options out there now for wearing your child besides just the snugglies and bjorns you see in the big stores. Gooogle babywearing, or go to thebabywearer dot com to see some. It is also great bonding for mom and baby, and helps so much if you are BFing. If you are at all interested IM me for some local resources. Off topic a little, just my 2 cents. Side by sides do not fit so many places, and if you leave it outside, what do you do with both kids??

I have a side by side jogging stroller,which coasters over bumps, easy to push five point harness, same problem way to big to fit through doors of shops or asiles.I have to fold it and turn it sideways to get it in.then what do you do with the kids? I purchased a second single line double stroller for shopping, the only problem is it doesn't have five point harnesses so my infant can't go in the front, the front seat is small for a toddler and it makes it very difficult to push with the toddler up front. (it's a jeep)but it's lighter then the side by side and fits into my trunk. If I had it to do over I would have bought a tandem stroller I heard they are easer to push because they aren't as long and target just came out with an affordable one. If I can't take my stroller with me I fold it up at resturants and leave it near the hostess, but I never leave then out on the porch or anything I am always afraid someone will steal it. Most peope have two strollers one to tote around and one for long walks. good luck to you.

I definitely recommend the front/back ones. The side by side ones are just so wide!

Be cautious when leaving your stroller somewhere! We were at an amusement park this past fall (Dollywood, which is largely older people) and we left my neice's stroller in the stroller parking area while we rode on the train. We came back to find it had been stolen! We were 9 hours away from home with a toddler and no stroller! In the future we will defintely be renting a stroller in amusement parks or locking them with a bicycle lot.

I don't have a double stroller but I have a pretty big joggin stroller that I take to places. I use a bike lock and leave it outside when I go to eat or visit stores that have small aisle. Sometimes it's a pain when you are just going in for a quick look, but you get used to it.

I had 3 chidren under the age of 3. The idea of a side by side was quickly dismissed as being large, unweilding & difficult to fit into the trunk of my car. More importantly it would have allowed my then 2 1/2 year old too much access to hit his 15 month old sister in the face with whatever was in his hand. So I opted in most cases to put the 15 month old on my back, the newborn on my front and push the 2 1/2 year old in an umbrella stroller on short trips out. On longer trips I used a front/back tandem stroller. When our oldest daughter had her children 22 months apart, also used a front/back stroller.

As for where to leave stroller...if there is no stroller parking, collapse it to make it as small as possible and put it in an out of the way corner inside, or up against a pole or fence outside with a bike lock holding it closed and secured. Strollers are just too easy for others to walk off with.

I have used both the side by side strollers and the front double strollers. I have found it a lot easier with the front and back one than the side by side. I had a lot of trouble pusing my side by side around. I take my front and back one everywhere. If you haven't purchased one yet.. I would make sure to shop around first. If its the side by side one you want, I would definately look for something that is easy to push around and something that is going to give you a lot of space for everything that you need!

I second the advice on looking into babywearing. It's wonderful to be able to give your baby lots of mamacuddling time and have both hands free. I'm still wearing my 2 year old. I know some folks who have 2 littles and wear them both at the same time, but I think you have to be in super duper shape to manage that. ;)

Some restaurants are kind enough to store it away for me, other times I leave it in the lobby folded up. Stores are a completely different problem, it can be a real nightmare moving among the racks at department stores. When we are home I keep it on the porch so we are always ready for a walk!

i have always just parked it outside, but i think that depends on your neighborhood, people will steal anything so you should always be cautious..
