We had a MacLaren "Major Buggy" for our son who is disabled. It was WONDERFUL! It is lightweight, folds easily, and holds up to 140 lbs. It looks like a large umbrella stroller. I wish he hadn't outgrown it(he's a young adult now)!!!
I like what Jennifer said. plus I searched and found this one for you.

Macleran makes specialized strollers for older children- that should take you through many years. They are very expensive but like Jennifer said if your child has a medical condition that causes the walking difficulty your insurance should cover it with a justification letter from her doctor. The various strollers are light weight. Good Luck.
Hey D.,
How about an umbrella stroller? I have 2 of them because my kids fight over who's sitting in it (when we "remember" to take them with us). My kids are almost 9 and 6. They fit great, their feet are comfortable on the foot strap and the back of the stroller reclines. For my own sanity, because there's no storage bag or cup holders, I bought cup holders and a mess bag (by the way it STRETCHES very nicely) for each stroller and attatched them with wire ties (so no one would pull them off) and we are ALL happy.
Good luck with your choice. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

There is a store in Brooklyn called Medical Arts. Their phone # is (877) 267-6070. They sell the Maclaren Major Elite. I've been looking at it online, but I want to see one in real life before I buy one. I have a 8 yr old daughter with Hypermobility Syndrome. She wears leg braces and has conic pain in her legs. She's to big for the baby umbrella stroller we've been using for the past several years. It's also a Maclaren, they do seem like very tough strollers.
Thank you to the person who mentioned having the Insurance Company pay for it. I'll try that.
Good Luck
