I just found out that I am pregnant with my second child. I have an in home dc and currently watch 3 children soon to be 4 and of course my son who is 2. I also just found out 3 weeks ago that my mother has stage 4 lung cancer and starts chemo on Friday. I have to take her to these appointments. I need to start reducing my stress level as much as possible because I am high risk from the word GO. So I need to reduce the number of kids I watch to where I only have one. Do any ladies out there have any extreme cost cutting idea's??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I decided to not reduce the number of children I watch because all of the parents really seem very supportive and don't want to move their kids. I have instead hired my SIL for a few hours a day to help me out and to come over for appointments (mine and my mothers).

One of my best friends is battling cancer right now so I started a web based "Help" site.. It is free and it is easy to run.. Consider this the time to call in all troops to help with your moms appts..

You are only 1 person and people WANT to help..

I bet you are really good already about your budget so most of this is probably things you have already done..

To make cuts to your budget...
Make sure you have the best price for your car and homeowner insurance.

Get a cheap cell phone plan/make sure you get rid of your land line.

Drop the cable. Drop any subscriptions to any magazines, any DVD rentals and the newspapers.. Instead us the online websites to read the articles. There are online sites to watch tv shows and to read the news..

Make sure your cars are kept in good condition so they get the best gas mileage.. make sure the tires are at the proper pressure..

This winter dress more warmly and lower the thermostat..

Make more large quantities of food, based on what is on sale.. Freeze leftovers for later use.. saves time too..

See if you can borrow from friends or see if friends have baby things they no longer need or want and see what will work for you.

And honey, be good to yourself and get/find times to rest. Be honest if you are doing too much, ask for help or tell people, I cannot do this anymore.. You must be healthy yourself to be of help to others.

Try to enjoy this pregnancy. Find the happy things and focus on them.. Keep a calender to write down happy thoughts and funny things throughout your days.. Share these with your mom..

I am sending you strength..

I am sorry to hear about your mom. You sound very busy and stressed out.

I also run my own inhome daycare business and go to college while taking care of my own 3 as well. I understand what you are dealing with.

Like a PP said, coupons, go over the weekly sales inserts and plan your meals around what's on sale. Also shop at Aldi if you don't already. They generally have good food. I don't buy all of my things there but it's way cheaper.
Then look at your bills and see what you can cut down on or weed out.

Take care!

I started couponing. It does save money but it takes time and might add to your stress. If you want to do it, there are lots of helpful sites. www.dealdetectingdiva.com is my favorite. I also stayed at a hotel this weekend and asked if I could have the coupons out of the 10 newspapers they had in the lobby. You might see if a hotel in town would give you some coupons. I got $1.00 off 2 frosted mini-wheats coupons and bought them for less than $1 a box. So, even if you don't coupon big, you can save money.
