Strawberry Picking Within a Reasonable Distance of Chgo's Western Burbs?

Anyone have any recommendations? I heard last season was shortened due to flooding in the fields. I wonder how our recent rains might have effected the current crops.

My sister was familiar with Thompson's Strawberry Farm in Bristol, WI. Can anyone comment on this place?

Thanks

My daughter and I went to Thompson's a few weeks ago. They still had a lot of strawberries then...and they were delicious. Not too far from Western suburbs. Just take 294 north to 50 west. Probably about an hour. You should probably call first to make sure they still have strawberries.
Good luck!

I think the strawberry season is just about over. One of the local farms near DeKalb is already done with strawberries for the season.

We called Thompson's last week. I think they update their answering machine daily so you might want to do the same - but from what I understood, this year's crop was a smaller berry than normal.

Here's a link to several area u-pick farms that are listed on kidwinks.com: http://www.kidwinks.com/FamilyFun/OutdoorKidsActivities/U.... There are a couple of places that only do strawberries (and got good reviews), and there are blueberry farms, apple orchards and pumpkin farms as well, in case you missed the strawberry season.
