Strange Redness/little Bumps on Daughter

Hi moms. The past 2 nights, I've noticed red areas with small bumps on various parts of my daughter's body. The red area is about the size of a quarter to the palm of my hand and the bumps are about 2 mm. Both nights I first saw them shortly before her bath and about an hour later they were gone. The first night I thought maybe she had an allergic reaction the oyster sauce from her dinner but then they appeared again tonight when she had only eaten foods that she's had many many times (and no oyster sauce 0f course). I'm going to call the ped. tomorrow but I'm just wondering if any other moms out there have seen anything like this. She doesn't seem to be bothered by the redness and has no other symptoms. She was not outside at all today so it couldn't be a poison ivy type thing or bug bite. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

My kids get a red rash with tiny bumps when they've been too hot. It's just a heat rash. They usually get it on their tummy or their backs. After they cool off, it goes away pretty fast. Maybe it's that?

Tammie - It does sound like an allergic reaction to something in food. My daughter had various food allergies through 5-years-old. I found a great pediatric allergist. I didn't get my child tested, but rather did the elimination diet, slowly removing various foods for awhile to see if it helped. It did. I also changed our food selection, went with more organic foods, and found wonderful children's vitamins/supplements that helped build her immune system. Every now and then I'll still find a patch of red spots or pimples - so we simply watch what she's eating and they disappear within days. Hope this is helpful. I still would check with your doctor rather that wait if the sypmtoms continue.

My son had a similar rash recently, and our pediatrician said that such rashes are common in children in families where allergies are prominent. He told us to put Eucerin lotion on the rash, and to give my son an allergy medicine like Benadryl for a few days. He also recommended that we only bathe our son every other night, instead of daily, because the warm bath water would cause the rash to flare up.

My son once had a reaction to a certain kind of fish. I gave him benedryl, and the hives went away, but then came back 2 days later even though he didn't eat any more fish. Our allergist said that a food can stay in your system for up to 3-4 days, and to give him the benedryl for a little longer.

Hi Tammie,
I buy all of my household products, including bath and body products from an "all green" company that's been making better, safer products for over 23 years. They're as close to all natural as you can get. I have my own wholesale account and can show you how to shop there as well, if you're interested. They make children's products and make a patented all natural skin care lotion that has been very effective at getting rid of skin problems....it's called Renew and is not available in stores.

It does sound like it could be an allergic reaction. To what I am not sure. Good luck. I would talk to your Dr. & let him or her know exactly what it looks like & when it happened.

When ever concerned call your doctor. But these could be a bug bite or an allergic reaction. If it is a allergic reaction the bumps should start to stay longer as the days go on.

Tammie,

My daughter has gotten the exact same thing, I think. Looks like a bug bite but the surrounding area is red. However, I noticed it after she was laying on a down throw and again after her first encounter with corn. I would be interested to see what your pediatrician says. I thought it must have been an allergic reaction of some sort but the cause is unknown and like you said it seems to disappear within an hour or so???
