My younger brother had a rash similar to that when he was 2 - it turned out to be Fifth Disease...a rash on the body (anywhere) and it's carried by dogs (not fatal)...sort of looks like chicken pox.
Two weeks ago, I noticed a few small pinpoint size dots on my daughter's leg. The next day, she had a bunch on her torso. Needless to say, they were still there a week later, so I took her to the Dr. Like my husband assumed, the Dr. thought it was a virus. It most likely is a virus, however, she still has the rash, but now there are larger, more irritated red dots too.
Do I take her back to the Dr? Or do I wait till it's been thee weeks? I'm set to for her annual in 9 days. My daughter doesn't seem bothered by this, but it sure is bother me.
Let me just add that it looks like Rubella or Roseola, but those rashes aren't suppose to last very long.
I broke down and went to the Dr after watching Maeve breakdown this morning in pain from the scratches she was giving herself from itching her neck.
We saw a different Dr. and thinks its Pityriasis rosea.

can always brin her to an allergist or dermotologist and they'd prob know. sounds like heat rash. my son has some of that on his torso in the summer... near where the diaper contact the skin
I agree with the previous post. All my kids have had this. At your daughters check up inquire about it and see what he says.
My 3 year old son has a similar type of rash - it's on his arms and legs. Sometimes they itch, sometimes they don't. He's been to the doctor numerous times, and they never are able to make a diagnosis. We've tried every cream/lotion/body wash under the sun, and nothing takes them away. In the winter, we are told it's dry skin - in the summer, we are told it's because he gets warm (heat rash). I'd love to hear if you find anything out. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
PS...just read a little about this: keratosis pilaris.

Does your daughter's rash look like this?
How old is your daughter? Could be Molluscum Contagiosum - the dots will turn to blisters and could spread. It is so common and contagious. They pick it up at school, gym etc. Both my children had it and the ONLY thing that worked for us was Silver Cure
