Stove _ Update- Finally Done!

Most of you know that my sister and I went together and got my mom and dad a stove for Christmas (theirs was barely functioning any more), and that we were kinda in a power struggle to get it installed. I am proud to say that I finally just left her alone and she did get it done. Saturday was the big reveal, and my sister put me on speaker phone to hear it.

What we didn't expect was my mom to bawl like she did. Honestly it sounded like someone died! :) I know she was just really happy, but it was funny to hear my sister and uncle (who had come to help) squirm because they didn't know what to do. I gotta add I didn't either, neither me or my sister (and especially my uncle) are good with tears, happy or not. Just a quirk of ours, lol. I am very glad we did it...and that it is over. :)

Anybody else ever get a reaction they didn't really expect?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Jo: LMAO! The offer was greatly appreciated, at one point I was willing to take you up on it. The funny thing is my dad told us he was so proud that we worked together to get it done, and my sister and I were both snickering because we knew we had driven each other crazy.

YAY!!! I'm sooo glad to hear this!!! I was wondering what happened!!!

As to a reaction I wasn't expecting? Yeah - when we told my SIL in Boston that we were pregnant again (2004) and she said "you really need another kid?" we had two...we wanted four....that was the downward slide of his relationship with that sister!!!

I have always found tears in that case are happy.

I am so glad they got it in.

I still would have come down and installed it mind you. :)

I'm so glad your stove situation is resolved with mom and sister both happy. (I didn't post on that one, but did read it...)

As for unexpected reactions: My husband loves cribbage and collects boards.. has more than one would think possible. For his birthday a few years ago, I hired our awesome cake-maker friend to make a 'cribbage board' birthday cake, which she did a beautiful job of, creating it to look like an inlay wooden board with tempered white and dark chocolate and all the holes poked through. (We actually put real cribbage pegs in it.) When we brought out the cake, he was in absolute shock. He teared up and told me that "this was the best birthday present anyone's ever given me".

And then, of course, we ate it. But we still have the pictures....and it's still his favorite present.
