Stores That Sell Good Quality Bras

I have been having a hard time finding a good bra. I am a D cup and find that minimizer and full figure bras fit best on me but good ones are becoming harder to find these days. I used to buy them at Walmart but the ones they sell are not good quality. After several wears, the wires will come out or the fabric will tear because it is so thin. I've been thinking about going to Macy's or Dillard's to look at their bras. I am willing to pay more for better quality. Can you ladies recommend a place to buy good quality bras at a reasonable price? Thanks in advance!

Lane Bryant hands down. That is all I wear very comfy and they have sales every month. I get mine for around 20/bra but they run around 40 but they last for 6 months to a year if they are handled properly.

Wacoal at Nordstrom. I believe they also have at Macy's but I've had better fitting experience at Nordstrom. I used to wear the bra's with underwires poking me but not since I started buying better ones. You get what you pay for in bra's, especially if you are gifted :)

Macy's is great, so is Victoria's Secret and Nordstrom. GET FITTED. It's free and it makes all the difference.
I get pretty much all my underthings at Victoria's Secret. Not the weird, trendy stuff, but their basics. Really well made and lasts a long time.
Your bras will last longer if you don't wash them to often and when you do, hand wash/dry, or at least hang dry.

Go get good bra fitting for starters.

I love Nordstrom. Great fitters, great selections.
I also love Neiman-Marcus for good fitting bras.

That said.... You can still get a good bra at Macy's or Dillard's. They have good fitters as well. They also have some of the same brands as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom as well

I like the Wacoal brand. I hate any linings or designs on my cup and they have styles that fit into my choices and are great for me. Nice styles which are functional as well.

No matter where I buy... I spend $60 plus for a good quality bra and I wear it about 6 months or so. You get what you pay for . Please get a good fitting and a good bra and you'll be amazed at how great you feel!!

I'm 34DD with no sagging and I attribute that to good genes and always wearing a good supportive bra. I'm a petite 116# and I don't have issues with extra weight factoring into my bra choice.

Best of luck!

I had your same problem, too. I finally opted for Vanity Fair bras, and I love them. There is a bra they have out that's I think is called the age defying lift, and it makes me look like I have teenage boobs. Also, I got the kind that not only lifts, but conceals back fat. I always dealt with bras that would slip up my back because my somewhat saggy ones would pull them down, and the back fat one stays in place, it's amazing. I have several bras and I wash them after one or two days of wearing, and they still have held up and do just what they did when new. I have had them for about 1.5 years now. Hope this helps!

I concur about Lane Bryant, but be prepared, theirs are not cheap. I also had good luck at the Hanes outlet store at an outlet mall near me. Like Lane Bryant, they measured me and I got a couple that fit great. But don't be surprised if you get a different measurement at each place. Lane Bryant has me at a DDD and the Hanes store had me at a large D to DD.

I like Spanx bras. You might just try on one of these and see how it fits and looks. They're pricy, but last me a year.

JCPenney is a good choice. They have both national brand and private brand bras so you have a variety of options and prices. Now that JCP is back to having sales, you can get some great deals. Once you settle on a bra you really like, if your size is not available in the store you can order at jcpenney.com. There are several online only brands at JCPenney that carry longline bras such as Goddess, Glamorise, and others. Good luck!

Macys, Kohls, look for Vanity Fair or Warner's.
(Sears even has a wide selection of bras too!)
Brace yourself & look for sales. $36/ea is fairly typical for a quality bra.

As a D cup wearer, even though you may not be a plus size woman you might want to check out the bra selection at Lane Bryant. They have well-made bras for those of us with generous frontal acreage. I wear a DDD cup, and they are one of the few places I can find bras in my size. You might also want to look online at Title Nine Sports and their spin-off bra company, Bounce. Their bras are expensive, but they are also very well-made and durable, and their customer service is top-notch. Of course if they don't have a store near you you can't get fitted, but you can call them and talk to a bra expert, and they take returns with no hassle at all. They are the only place I've ever found a sports bra that gives adequate support without creating a giant uniboob on my front.

Nordstroms! Just heard a speaker at a MOPs meeting!! Lots of body type clothes info! For bras you need to get fitted properly every 1-2 years, weight gain or loss of over 10lbs, and when you are done nursing.
Do not wear same bra two days in a row! A bra needs 24hours to return to its stretch! Wash delicate in lingerie bag NEVER put in dryer, always hang dry or handwash. So speaker recommended Nordstroms for proper fitting! Their bras are pricier but well worth investment. I used to be a "bra" specialist @ Victoria Secret. Total BS! No real training, their bras dont last & sizes dont go up very far!

Victorias secret, JC Pennys, Nordstroms, there are many places with that cup size. If the underwire is coming out you may want to consider getting sized, that can often mean you are wearing too small of cups. Here is a video to help you find your right size:

Lane Bryant is awesome. Their semi-annual sale is buy two, get two free, so I stock up then. I hate underwire and their no wire bras provide great support and don't hurt. I can wear them all day and still feel comfortable.

32DDD or sometimes 32E here. (Yes, they're real, and I'm petite and very fit.) I swear by Nordstrom fitters and upscale bra lines (Simone Perel, Chantelle, Le Mystere), but the sticker shock is horrendous. I gulp and purchase new bras there once a year. Handwash them, hang them to dry, and take care of them like the investment that they are. :)

Soma Intimates is an awesome place for bras. Lately they have a deal 2 bras for $59. They can also fit you with the right size bra and they are so comfortable. They are at most major malls.

I am a size 4-6 and wear 34DDD/E, so very hard to find a good fit because I am not a plus size on the rest of my body. Dillard's is the way to go. I only buy my bras there and I am very busty and hard to fit. Some are very pricey but they have many styles in the $40 range. They last forever. I have only 3 bras that I wear every day and one of them I have had for 6 years and the only issue is the elastic on the back is a little stretched out now after so many wears and having to stretch it out through my last pregnancy and nursing where I grew even more. They can have someone size you and fit you as a courtesy if you are interested in that as well.

I am a 36DD....

Get fitted. I prefer the ladies at Victoria Secret or Neimans to the ones at the smaller department stores because they do it daily. A friend of mine who has size H+ prefers a store called Pricillas who will actually custom make bras for her. Since you are a D, I do not believe you need that service.

By the way, it is not just the size of your boobs. I buy my bras at VS because I am wider across the front and these seem to fit well. I had tried Soma, but none of their bras fit because their shape expects your boobs to be closer. Always a try on several types to determine your shape.

Care for your bras. They should be washed separately on gentle cycle in your washer and hung to dry. Never fold them into each other when putting them away because the cups will lose their shape. So lay flat in your drawers.

I hope this helps! :)

Macys is good. My experience with Victoria's secret is that they only last about 6 months.
