This may seen a bit strange, but I have always put clear nail polish on my bites. It stops the itching!
HELP!!! I have an 8 month old who has 3 big mesquito bites on her face that are driving us all nuts! What can I put on them to get rid of them faster and/or stop the itching?

Hair Spray!! Trust me, it works!! I know you don't want to spray directly on your babies face so spray some on your fingers and quickly rub on the bites before the spray dries.
This is an old trick I learned years ago and it always works on me and my kids. It literally stops the itching in seconds and helps to dry up the bite.
Take care!!
Tea tree oil is probably the best option. It is all natural and it works! No chemicals to worry about or medication reactions. I use it on my kids. Put some on a cotton ball and apply it two or three times a day. I buy it at Central Market, I haven't been able to find it at Walmart or the supermarket. I have also found it works for acne too!
Put your cortizone cream in the refrigerator, it helps calm the itch better when its cold.
Good luck!
I know this is four days later, but maybe for another time she gets bites on her face; being it's her face, you might try theold trusted baking soda paste trick. Just apply a dab of water to baking soda, make a paste, and apply. It won't hurt her if she gets it in her mouth. It is soothing, and the soda can draw out the stufff in the bite.
Other items may dry, but they might get wet again through tears, drooling etc.
Sting Stop. You can get it at a health food store. It is greatness.

We use clear calamine lotion. It works wonderful!
You just have to help her get through the itch while it is drying...
"After Bite" seems to help us very quickly. They sell it at Walmart. It's a thin maybe 5 inch cylinder.
Mentholatum stops the itch and reduces swelling rapidly.
TEA TREE OIL!!! It's great and it's the ONLY thing that works for my kids! It smells funny, but it's wonderful!!! I buy from The Cupboard in Denton, but any naturaul food stores should have it! Maybe even Wal-Mart by now!
I always put a little camphophenique on q-tip and rubs it on bite it comes in a little green bottle.
