Ok moms I need help or else I am going to throw away every pair of shoes my son and husband own, and make them go barefoot. j/k :) Both of my guys have stinky shoes and no matter what I spray in the shoes the stink is there. I can only buy shoes that can be washed, nothing nice and this year I would like to get them nicer shoes. So do any of you know anything good to get the stink out and keep it gone?

For shoes that can't be "washed", sprinkle baking soda into the shoes and leave overnight, Vaccuum out in the morning. As far as keeping the smell gone...if they wear them, their feet will perspire (hense the "smelly shoes") and will probably have to be freshened every few days. More often in the summer. Another thing to consider-how often or where do you want your husband and son to wear their "nice" shoes? If it's just to run to the market, or gas station, beach...casual places, I would have them wear ones that can be washed.
My husband's shoes are the same, as are my 7 yo dd's. I guess she inherited his stinky feet! I sprinkle baking soda or baby powder in their shoes when I think of it. I don't dump it out, I just leave it in there. With my dd, having her wear socks helps, but she does not like to wear them. I have not found anything to help much, but the baking soda or baby powder does help a little. Sometimes I will leave them outside over night, after spraying them with lysol.
Good luck.

Hi A.
My husband also had stinky feet. He started wearing 100%cotton socks and only white. and he sprinkles his shoes with baby powder and that has helped a ton. Good Luck T.
This is why I like Payless shoes so much!
My feet sweat quite a bit and if I wear the same pair of shoes a lot, inevitably the shoes start to smell. Same goes for sandals (no socks!)
I don't ever wear the same pair of shoes in a row. One pair airs out while I wear another one.
Powder in your socks or shoes helps... but if their feet sweat a lot they will end up with clumps. When I wear sandals I put on Burt Bee's deodorant on my feet (on top, under, between toes).
If you live in a sunny place, air the shoes out under the sun. The heat will help dry them out and will keep the smell at bay.
Also have them get their shoes off as soon as they get home, less time on, more time airing out. If their feet smell they can wash and change socks (this works pretty good for our 10 year old).
I will also check out the material. My hubby has a pair of shoes that smell like skunk! So you know what not to buy anymore.
I hope this helps. It's helped my family.
