Is it cheap enough to get rid of? I busted a few ketchup packets in my purse and I ended up just tossing it. I figure I got my $20 worth from a year of use.
At a minor league ball game the people in our row spilled a giant beer. It flowed to my seat and soaked the bottom of my purse and purse strap. A little "heads up, spill coming your way" would have been wonderful but alas my purse sat there in it. I guess that's what I get for putting it in such a gnarly place to begin with, yuck. Luckily it didn't reach the contents inside my bag. So I clean it as best I can with some wipes I had on hand and then forgot about it. Two days later my son and I were walking out the door and he says "Phew! What's with the beer smell?" So here I've been going around town smelling like a brewery without realizing it. Nice. And now to my question, is there a way to get rid of the smell? I haven't tried tossing it in the wash yet. It is not real leather (I'm cheap.) Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ah-hahaha! I love your story!
But, yeah, I'll bet you were wanting a NEW cheap purse anyway, right?
:)
i wonder what baking soda and or vinegar would do? fabreeze??
a few years ago, my whole 20 oz cup of coffee spilled directly into the middle of my purse, contents and all!! I was in my car at the time, and when I stopped I dumped my whole purse out into the trunk, and let it air dry all day in there. When I got home, my purse kept smelling like hot black coffee. So I tossed it in the wash, on gentle and cold water, then put it out on the deck to air dry. It worked OK. I have also ran the tap water inside of mine before to clean it out. My purses are not terribly expensive but are leather, so not sure what yours would do. Maybe you could try to get some Woolite detergent and get it all sudsy with a washcloth and clean it that way. Good luck.
