I actually leaked milk for almost a year after stopping breastfeeding. It just about pissed me off! It went away eventually!
My son is 5 months old and I only breastfed him for two weeks do to his acid reflex and the protein in his stomach did not agree with my milk. Anyways it has been 5 months and I still have milk is the normal?

R.,
It is normal if your breasts/nipples are hypersensitive. Anything as simple as a bra rubbing your nipples can stimulate milk production. An old remedy ,and my daughter tried this after her first baby, it works. Try cabbage leaves. Place one large leaf inside the cups of your bra and do this for several days, maybe even a week and your milk should dry up. Cheap and no medicines , use the left overs for a side dish- LOL. Best of Luck on drying up the well ! C. S.
maybe a chance to try breastfeeding again!
whatever you decide, this is normal and it will pass with time.
good luck, mama!
If you have not been pumping or breastfeeding at ALL in the last 4 months, then no, this is not normal. But if you keep pumping to relieve the pressure, then your body thinks it needs to keep producing milk. There are natural and medicinal remedies to dry up your milk supply if you choose.
Every once in a while if I mess with my booBs/nipple I will get milk out and I had my daughter 4.5 yrs ago and never breastfed
I breast fed for 5 months before I dried up (going back to work and pumping just didn't keep my supply up).
Our son just turned 15 yrs old.
I still get a little dried milk residue on the nipples every once in awhile.
Once you've made milk you'll always make some even if it's only in teeny tiny amounts.
It's normal.
i used cabbage leaves to ease the pain from engorgement but i have never heard it dries up your milk?
Your hormones will be different while just having a baby for about a year. After that, if your still producing milk, see your obgyn. In some cases, abnormally high levels of prolactin is being produced. The cause can me hormones out of wack or a benign pituitary tumor.
Don't know why you got a couple answers that its not normal. Totally is normal! First DD I didn't breastfeed much b/c of all her allergy issues, leaked months & months later, I remember using the disposable pads in my bra at work. With most recent baby, pumped and stopped 3 months ago... still leak just a tiny bit every once in awhile. I heard the cabbage leaf thing, maybe try that :)

As you can see from this thread so far, there are women that this has happened to and women who it hasn't. Some who it hasn't ever happened to don't happen to know that it does in some women. (Learn something new everyday...)
Anyway, you might talk to your ob/gyn about it, but I would definitely try Cathy's suggestion about the cabbage leaves. I found out about that from the lactation nurse at the hospital who I called when it was time to wean.
i breastfed my daughter until she was about 16 months. She will be 3 in 2 months. I still have a bit of leakage when being intimate with my husband.
