Still Bleeding :( - Baton Rouge,LA

Tomorrow makes 7 weeks since I had my baby and I'm still bleeding. It's not alot, but enough that I have to put a panty liner in every morning and every night. With my other two children, I stopped bleeding before 4 weeks. I did get the Depo shot after my baby was born, would that have anything to do with it? Should I see my doctor about the bleeding?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. I did talk to my doctor about it and she told me unless I am gushing blood, they don't really look into it until 3 months out. I also ask her about it being because of the Depo shot, she told me no, but since I plan on having a tubal ligation in August, I won't be getting another one!!

Hi E.,

I bled for 8 weeks after I gave birth to my son. I think sometimes it just takes longer. Towards the end it would go way and the spotting would come back but it completely stopped after 8 weeks. You can double check with your doctor if you are concern.

It took me 12 weeks after my first child was born to stop bleeding. I guess I just had a lot of tearing at the birth and when I went to my 12 week appointment I wasn't healed yet. They told me to take warm baths every night and that helped!

I would at least call the doctor....... I bled alot too after the first one, and when I was about to stop, it really picked up, dawned on my I had started!

It's better to be safe than sorry, so call and make sure everything is ok.

Take care and congrats on the new baby!

I hate to be the one that says yep it's the shot but it is. The shot was the worst birthcontrol I ever used. I bled for almost a year, dr's kept saying it takes the body time. Well I couldn't handle it anymore. So I didn't. Go back. Hope it all works out for you.

The Depo shot will cause spotting for a long time. I would still call your doc and ask what they think is going on.

I echo what the other moms said and check with your doctor. It could be something more. I bled for 10 weeks with my last child and after consulting with the doc found out that I needed a D&C because I still had a really thick uterine lining that wasn't a normal thing. The results after the D&C were that I still had pieces of placenta from the delivery. Good luck.
