How long do you steam your veggies for baby food? I'm steaming them on the stove top. I know it's a dumb question, but I usually cook my veggies in the microwave and we have a more crunchy texture, but for baby food, I need mush since my babies are just starting out.

I didn't steam them.
Like Riley J. below, I simply put it in a pot of boiling broth.
It gets real soft that way.
Versus steaming.
And then you just mash the veggies with the tines of a fork or put it in a mini
osterizer to mush it.
Wholesomebabyfood.com is an AMAZING website that will help you out immensely if you are making your own food. It has 'recipes' (mostly just cooking times for mush...), a timeline for the 'ideal' age to introduce certain foods (along with the reasons why), what to watch out for as far as allergies go, how long they can store for, etc. etc. etc.
I boiled them in chicken stock until they were mushy. Adds fats and proteins.
I just test them, each veggie will be a little different. Once they are smooshy enough to mash, I take them off.
I used stacking pan steamer (like a metal colander that sat over the boiling water) and threw in all the veggies in the top and steamed them. took about 25 minutes in all.
I think you can also steam in the microwave. . . there are special "steamers" for that.:)
Even if more "crunchy" as long as you can mush em with your fork or gridner or food processor - it'll be fine!

Good on you for making your own baby food.
Not meaning to insult you but cooking any food in the microwave is not a good idea. They should be have very limited use -reheating food.
Cooking your food on a cooker doesn't take that much longer.
