We have handscraped wood floors. Is it ok to use the Shark Steam mop on them? Or what would be the best way to clean them? I have been just swifting them with the swifter. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I'd avoid the steam mop as it may ruin your finish and stain your floors. I mop my hardwood floors with Murphy's Oil Soap diluted in a bucket of hot water. You do need to be careful what you use to preserve the finish--my mom's cleaning lady used the swiffer wet cloths on her hardwood floors and ruined them. The damage wasn't immediately obvious, but over the course of 2 years the cleaner gradually eroded the finish.

vinegar and water... not too wet, just damp.

Just got hardwoods and our installer, plus a couple other friends recommended the Bona system. I ran out and picked it up at Bed, Bath and Beyond (with a coupon, of course!). Worth checking out. I like it so far!

I love my Shark Steam Pocket mop on my hardwood floors! There are no chemicals to harm the finish, and it is made to clean hardwood. I have had mine about a year, and the floors look great. Since it is steam, it dries very quickly, so no need to follow behind with a towel, as I used to do with other methods. Plus, since there are no chemicals, there is no residue left behind, which is especially important if you have little ones on the floor, putting things in their mouths. I use the swiffer for dry cleaning, but highly recommend the steam mop for deeper cleaning of the hardwoods. And the Bed Bath and Beyond coupons are great for purchases like this! Good luck!
