Hey Mamas,
I recently borrowed a family member's steam mop to see what I thought and I really liked it! It did great on my tile and with a little change in technique it worked well on my wood laminate (which covers most of the house). Only problem is this steam mop has a short cord and we have a large space. I used the Shark steam mop and was curious to hear which steam mops you have and your opinions. Thanks!

I love my Haan steam cleaner, although I have the same problem with the short power cord. An extension cord should easily solve that problem. I researched steam cleaners on amazon.com and the Haan had higher customer ratings than the shark. It's more pricey though. I ended up buying the model with an extra short handle so I can clean my tile counters. Love it!

Sorry, for the late reply, but I just saw your post (but haven't read the other replies) and wanted to let you know what I have. We've got the Shark hard surface steam cleaner, which WE LOVE! It's got the mop attachment, so you can "mop" with it, but it's also got other attachments, such as a hard-bristle brush that I use for my grout on my tile floors. It's got a fairly long cord. The only downside is this particular cleaner is not as convenient to use as the Shark mop steamer (which is strictly just used for mopping), but you can use it for any hard surface that needs to be cleaned, like the counter, stove, floors, etc. You just have to decide whether you want a "mop-only" steamer or want to use the steamer for other areas in your home. I believe we bought the steamer at Lowe's or Home Depot for about $80 on sale. The usual price is probably around $100, but I think it's a good investment. We've had this steamer for years now. It has made the grout on my tile floors look brand new! And the best part is no harsh chemicals, just steam! Hope this helps you in making the decision that will best suit your needs.

Ok the steam mop that I have used is also the Shark...Its great...I am looking into buying one...It can handle removing built up dirt and stains really well!! There is one out there that a friend of mine has used made by the company that I think makes the dirt devil ...Doesn't work as well...I would stick with the Shark...
I am a grandma of an almost 1 year old girl....and may I say she is the cutest little ball of energy...Keeps me running!! I have a 23 yr old daughter(my grandaughters mommy) and a 21 year old son...you know they grow up so fast before you know it they are graduating high school...
Enjoy your 3 year old....Its an awsome and fun age!!

The length of the cord is due to safety measures and requirements. If you like that one, I would stick with it.

Hi S. -

We use the Shark Steam mop daily at our Gymboree sites. We simply use an extension cord and are able to move around the whole playfloor without too much trouble.
