Steam Cleaning Your Mattress

Another poster was talking about odor in her home and on her sheets and a couple of poster said it was likely oils from the body on the mattress. They said they steam cleaned their mattresses.

So my question is how do you do that and how does it not hurt the mattress? Doesn't the absorbent foam inside the mattress hold water? How does it not mildew of flatten or lump up?

I am really interested in trying this, do I hope you ladies (or gents) can educate me?

Thanks in Advance!

What can I do next?

My carpet cleaner guy told me today he also does mattresses. He considers it upholstery just like a couch or chair.

You do need to leave bedding off the mattress until it's totally dry. Be sure there is good air circulation. Perhaps use a fan or heater to speed up the process.

I'm one of those posters. :)

We don't have a pillow top. It's basically the same as cleaning your couch. We use the upholstery attachments and it's always been fine.
