P.W.
I've experienced this on slides myself. My car shocks me a lot, but it doesn't seem to do that to others in my family. Maybe some people are more prone to it?????? I don't get it.
Hi all you mums out there,
Do any of you know of a way to reduce static electricity from going down slides on playgrounds? At every playground I bring my son to, he goes down the slide, his hair stands on end, and when I catch him at the bottom, we both get shocked. Is there a way to prevent or minimize this? The last time we went to the park he simply walked away from the slides and said, "Slide hurt. All done."

I wonder if a dryer sheet or Static Guard would work?
I found that if I was touching the slide with one hand (or bare leg) when I caught my child, we didn't get shocked. I would just hold out my other hand and they would catch it like a handshake, instead of a hug. I've been zapped many a time too!!
I hate this too. Try keeping some dryer sheets in your car and either rubbing his clothes with them before playing on the playground or rubbing down the slide yourself with it before letting him play. Let us know if you find something that works. My kids always blame me for zapping them. They take it really personally like I am doing it on purpose or something.
Don't catch him...let him jump off and run to you instead.
