Starting Milk Early

All the domperidone and fenugreek in the world is not helping my pumping output! My daughter will be 1 yo in June, and her pedi gave me permission to start her on whole milk (I'm opting for organic brands) in May since I'm going on a business trip at the end of May and don't have enough frozen in storage to last the length of my trip. Now that my pumping output is barely enough for one bottle, I'm thinking about starting her on 1/2 breast milk / 1/2 whole milk sooner. Is 10 1/2 months too early, when the dr. said 11 months was OK? She's a great eater, and has had a little bit of dairy (cottage cheese, sampling of ice cream) without any effects. Or, should I start soy milk and then whole milk later on in May?

What can I do next?

Mine has been on whole milk since 10 months. At first, she didn't like it. After a few days she was taking it cold out of the fridge. Go for it.

i went to my pedi today actually and they said i could start my kiddo on whole milk at about 10 months old. she has acid reflux and they said it was okay to try to to see if it comes back up and give it to her like I would give her juice. talk to your pedi and see what they say!! good luck

It should be fine. My sis-in-law started my nephew on whole milk at 9 months (because her doctor said to) and he was fine. My first daughter never liked any formula and wouldn't eat well when that were her only choice because she was so used to breast milk. However, she had no problem with going to regular whole milk when it was time. Just my opinion - but 10 1/2 months is not very much difference than 11 months.

Please wait until she is 12 months old, it really is better for the babies ... I know it's difficult, to wait sometimes especially when you are having supply issues but have you tried pumping on one while she nurses off the other? three days solid of that and you should see a difference along with the fenugreek :)
