My baby boy is suffering a staph infection. He is taking Bactrim and I also have a cream to put in his bottom. This problems started with a diaper rash using the dry max pampers.... Any suggestion to help my baby with the infection??

What can I do next?

It sounds like your doctor has prescribed the best treatment so far.

Obviously, you'll want to stop using the diapers.
Johnson and Johnson is rigorously defending the diapers despite the uproar. I've never been a Pampers fan personally, so we haven't been affected.

But, our daughter was diagnosed with MRSA (a serious staph infection because it's resistant to methicillin) last week. She's not on Bactrim, but she's been responding well to Bactriban 3 times/day for the past week.

Good luck!

Lots of probiotics, lots, bifidus and acidophulous, lots. Can also make a paste of probiotics and use for the rash.

unrefined Coconut oil. It is antibacterial/fungal/viral. There were some recent studies that showed coconut oil to fight off MRSA, the bacteria that eats the skin so I'm sure it would fight staph as well. It helps wonderfully for diaper rashes, that's all I use on my daughter and it goes away in a few hours.....of course I catch it very early.

When ever possible leave his daiper off of him. Lay him on a towel on the floor to air out for an hour a few times a day. It will make a big difference.

If his diaper rashes are associated with antibiotics, try Florastor Kids. It is a probiotic powder that can be mixed with applesauce. You give it twice a day for the duration of the antibiotic. I have to say, it works miracles. I have heard of lots of other things but my daughter did antibiotics without it - we didn't know about it yet - and she developed a HORRIBLE rash. This time we had to do 20 days of an antibiotic and used Florastor from day one - there was absolutely NO change in her stool!!!!!!!!!!! The stuff is amazing - you can get it at Walgreens from the pharmacy but it is an over the counter med. Sorry, I have no info about staph but the Florastor can help prevent rashes in the future. Good Luck
