A side dish that is ALWAYS asked of me at ANY gathering is Cinnamon Corn. I know! I know! When you hear the name you wrinkle your nose but it is heavenly. It's almost like a dessert. It's a simple recipe and I guarantee it will be a hit!

1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c sugar
1/4 c flour
2/3 c evaporated milk
2 (15oz each) cans whole kernel corn, drained

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease a 1-1/2 qt casserole dish
In a large saucepan, heat butter & sugar until butter is melted. Mix in flour then remove from heat. Whisk in evap. milk then mix in corn. Pour into prepared casserole dish.
Bake for about 60 min. until bubbly around the edges. Sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar

(Cinnamon Sugar = 1/4 c sugar & 1 tsp ground cinnamon)

Good luck and, if you try this, let me know what you think!

I also LOVE to cook. It is just hubby daughter (14) and me at home but I cook all the goodies for Thanksgiving and Christmas because I LOVE it.

I did a huge turkey for Thanksgiving. Christmas will be cornish hens with stuffing (every gets his/her own hen).

For New Years I am making Prime Rib. I got a new recipe at market Street that I am going to try this year. It is the Rock Salt method. The one they had for taste at Market Street was great. I usually slow roast my Prime Rib and then blast it at the end, this is an opposite way....bast first then back off. Hopefully it will be good!!

I also make TX cavier especially for New Years. I'll send the recipe if you want. Just fresh black eyed peas in a oil/vinegar dressing with seasonings. Served at room temp.

Enjoy your holiday cooking!!

Well, a must have recipe at our house is the pampered chef satin mint cake!! It is basicaly a chocolate pound cake with a thin layer of a creme cheese/mint mixture. It can be quite time consuming, but if you are interested, PM me and I will send you the recipe! And, something new we will be trying this year is bacon wrapped green beans. We had Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant this year, and these little things were so good!! We even asked them how to make it..here it is! Take 5-6 fresh green beans and wrap a piece of uncooked bacon around them to form a "bunch". Lay several out on a cookie sheet, then sprinkle with brown sugar. Cook at 375 for about 40 minutes, and you are done. Some recipes that are similar suggest blanching the beans first, and others even suggest cooking the bacon first. I am not sure exactly how I will do it, but it has a great look to it..you could serve with the meal or maybe even as an appetizer, and honestly, all of us at Thanksgiving just loved them!! Good luck, and happy cooking! ~A.~

What about a good prime rib with wine mushrooms! Yum.

I'd love to hear about what recipes you come across - I am not the best cook and always fall to the same ole same ole every holiday.

Oh - I did wander Thanksgiving and made pickled purple cabbage with Turbanado sugar. It was a nice change of pace.

Hope to hear from you! C.

Can you give us an idea of what kind of food you like or are thinking about? Are you providing the whole meal or just main dish? I'm sure you could look at Southern Living for recipes and Good Housekeeping and Ladies Home Journal. As you probably know, the internet is a great place to type a few ingredients, separated by commas, into a search engine, and the recipes magically appear. I think many people on this site have recommended www.allrecipes.com.

Last Christmas my brother fixed these fantastic Lamb chops on the grill and the recipe is in the Weber Grill cook book, but I can tell you that the meat is coated in dijon mustard and then covered in bread crumbs. They were fantastic and the weather should be nice enough to grill if you wanted to try it. Good Luck!
