We just bought a new table about a month ago. Last night my little boy was finisheing his Icee treat and left the cup on the table. I didn't realize that he was not done and this morning I find a huge blue stain on my wood table. Do you know of any tricks to get it out before I start to sand it off?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Lucky for me the Magic Eraser worked fabulous without ruining the stain. The more I use those erasers the more I am convinced they really are magic! Thanks for all the help. I am making notes of all of them to use later...because I know I will need them!

don't quite know about wood surfaces, BUT..I do know that on any other surface for those HORRIBLE RED kool-aide stains just take some cascade dishwashing gel and smear a little on the stain. Let sit for about 10 min and it wipes off real clean like it never happened.IT REALLY WORKS!!

Toothpaste. I know that sounds weird but it works and won't damage the wood finish. Just rub toothpaste (non-abrasive) over stain let sit for a short time and wipe clean.

It really just depends on how deep the blue stained, if it's just on the surface of the finish then the earlier suggestions should all be about as effective as any other, if however none of them get it out it's because it has actually seeped all the way down into the wood, once a dye of any sort has gotten into the wood you pretty well have to sand it and refinish it, which I would have a professional do, if it's only barely into the would you can try a little oxyclean or bleach really diluted with water to lift out the color but you have to be careful to only leave it on for a minute so that you don't damage the wood any further. Then you need to refinish it.

Just chalk it up to a good lesson learned, I've had similar experiences that reminded me that I can't assume anything was left unharmed when my nearly two year old son is concerned.

Good luck, hoping it will come out on the first try.

Soft Scrub works great! I think that is actually the product in those Mr. Clean sponges (they work great also). If it doesn't come out, goo be gone works, but then it might also pull some of the shine off also. Try the Soft Scrub and Mr. Clean sponges, I bet you will be happy with the results.

Try Lemon Oil, it works great or that Orange Glo stuff. Even try maybe Mr Clean Eraser then polish the wood with the oil.

Something I tried on my desk is Oxiclean diluted with water. Put it on the stain and massage into the stain (but not too hard). I would try it on another area (like underneath the table) first, just in case it messes with the original color. It may change the color of your table if it is dark.... so be careful. My desk is a light color. I got ink into it and this worked for me. Best wishes.
