We are considering Taos, New Mexico for Spring Break and I don't have a clue about the town, where to stay (we'd like to be close to the ski area, I think), where to eat, etc. I am married with 3 beautiful girls, ages 6, 8 and 10. We will be with another family, so we'll need accommodations for 10. They have kids ages 11, 14 and 15. Thanks in advance for your help!

Don't know what kind of accomodations you're looking for, but Taos tends to be a little pricey. See their chamber of commerce website (http://www.taoschamber.com/index.html or http://www.taosskivalley.com/). Have you been to Taos before? If not, another idea for you might be to see about staying in Red River. It's about another 1.5 hours drive northeast and a really lovely place to visit. You could still spend a day or two in Taos (not too far to drive). Don't know how long you'll be in the area, but there's also a wonderful hot spring called Ojo Caliente that's only about 2 hours away (southwest) from Taos. The lodging is a little pricey, but just to go in the pools is ~$20 (free if you do lodge there). Depending on your skiing experience, I've heard that Taos is one of the more difficult ski areas in the state (FYI).

Whatever you choose, I hope you have a wonderful trip! New Mexico is gorgeous, wherever you go!

I don't know anything about Taos, but I highly recommend a 4x4 vehicle. The New Mexico highway department is infamous for its poor maintenance and slow action during winter storms. Also, many ski resorts are located beyond mountain passes that require 4-wheel drive during bad weather. I think Capps Rental has 4x4's in their fleet.

Try Trip Advisor.com. I've had good luck using the customer reviews on this site for choosing a hotel when I'm not familiar with the area or hotels there.
